South County Movember officially starts on November 1st. Here's and overview to fill you in on what were doing, why we are doing it, how to sign up and what businesses are offering discounts...

The goal of Movember is to raise awareness for men's health issues. There are only a few rules...Participants must be clean shaven on November 1st, sign up and then grow a mustache all month (it can not be a goatee or a beard). Should you accept this challenge, you then use the powers of the stache to spark conversations about men's health.

There is no fee to sign up and you can choose to raise funds for the cause or not. Even if you choose not to raise money, you are still raising awareness. To join our team, go to us.movember.com and sign up. Once you sign up you will be asked if you are doing it as an individual, creating a team or joining a team....click join a team and search South County Movember to join us. Once registered and clean shaven on Saturday 11/1, you can go to any of the participating businesses to pick up your Movember discount card which can be used all month long for discounts at over 30 local businesses.

Drift Surf will be hosting a "Shave Party" on Saturday from 12-5 at their location in Wakefield at 540 Kingstown Rd in the Quo Vadis Shopping Center. The shave itself is free, but donations for the cause will be accepted. On November 30th we will be having a Movember bash with contests and prizes at a location to be determined later.
