The Belgariad by David Eddings Second Hardcover Edition Five-Volume Set, 1992.
Second UK Hardcover Edition Five-Volume Set of the Belgariad by David Eddings, which appears to be more rare than the first editions of about 10 years earlier. The original hardcover set published by Century in the 1980's is typically priced at $2500 to $4000. This is a much more economic alternative.

$825 shipping USPS ground advantage, $900 Canada, $925 UK and internationa.

Pawn of Prophecy Book One of The Beglariad by David Eddings Second UK Hardcover Edition - First Printing London: Bantam Press Transworld Ltd, 1992 with £14.99 net cover price on the inside of the front flap jacket. Features stunning artwork by Geoff Taylor, far superior to any of the US editions' jacket artwork in my opinion. Fine in Fine- Jacket. The book is near-perfect with straight corners, clean boards and clean pages. A near-perfect copy save for slight hint of having been read, and very slight hint of discoloration to the spine of the jacket, very subtle. The jacket has NO tears or chips. Overall a beautiful copy of the most difficult volume to find of the set.

Queen of Sorcery Book Two of The Beglariad by David Eddings Second UK Hardcover Edition - First Printing London: Bantam Press Transworld Ltd, 1992 with £14.99 net cover price on the inside of the front flap jacket. Features stunning artwork by Geoff Taylor, far superior to any of the US editions' jacket artwork in my opinion. Fine- in Fine Jacket. The book has some very small pin-size spots, barely noticeable, but still more or less clean boards, straight corners and clean pages. Jacket is near perfect, NO tears or chips.

Magician's Gambit Book Three of The Beglariad by David Eddings Second UK Hardcover Edition - First Printing London: Bantam Press Transworld Ltd, 1992 with £14.99 net cover price on the inside of the front flap jacket. Features stunning artwork by Geoff Taylor, far superior to any of the US editions' jacket artwork in my opinion. Fine in Fine- Jacket. The book itself is near perfect. The jacket is near-perfect save a tiny hint of the spine being just being a touch lighter than the front, almost unnoticeable. The colors of the spine not matching perfectly with the front seems to be a common shortcoming with this book. NO tears or chips.

Castle of Wizardry Book Four of The Beglariad by David Eddings Second UK Hardcover Edition - First Printing London: Bantam Press Transworld Ltd, 1992 with £14.99 net cover price on the inside of the front flap jacket. Features stunning artwork by Geoff Taylor, far superior to any of the US editions' jacket artwork in my opinion. Fine in Fine Jacket, a near-perfect copy.

Enchanter's End Game Book Five of The Beglariad by David Eddings Second UK Hardcover Edition - First Printing London: Bantam Press Transworld Ltd, 1992 with £14.99 net cover price on the inside of the front flap jacket. NOTE on the DJ Artwork: Features stunning artwork by Geoff Taylor which did not appear in the original Century UK edition of the 1980's. In the Century UK edition, the artwork from the US paperback was used. This is the only hardcover edition with Taylor's featured artwork Fine- in Fine Jacket, a near-perfect copy. save a slight hint of having been read.

NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.

ALSO: The pictures are of the actual items for sale. (The pictures are NOT stock photos.)

NOTE on Edition: The Belgariad has a rather complex publishing history. The true first edition was published from 1982 to 1985 as paperback originals by Del Rey. About a year after each volume appeared in paperback, Century UK published each title in hardcover, maybe in only 1000 copies per title. There was an unimpressive two-volume book club edition in the US and Century UK also published two-volume sets combing the first three books in volume one and the last two books in volume two. In the early 1990's, it appeared Del Rey was going to published the books in a hardcover edition, but it was a disappointment. They published the Belgariad in two volumes instead of five, modeling the book club edition. At about the same time, Bantam Press Transworld published this second edition in five volumes. And as mentioned the Bantam Press hardcover edition of book five, Enchanters' End Game, is the only hardcover edition with Geoff Taylor artwork as the Century UK used the artwork for the paperback original. Fast-forward about 30 years. Grim Oak Press began publishing the books in a limited edition. I was rather excited and had pre-ordered the set until I saw the dust jacket artwork. I didn't care for Grim Oak's artwork' I prefer the Geoff Taylor artwork. So I canceled my pre-order.

For Sale:
The Stand by Stephen King First Edition/First Printing
The Stand is SK's fourth published novel. (author of Salem's Lot, The Shining, Night Shift, the Dead Zone, and the Dark Tower: The Gunslinger etc.) Hardcover First Edition - First Printing New York: Doubleday, 1978. 823 pages plus blank leaves at the end. $12.95 cover price. "First Edition" stated on the copyright page, Doubleday's convention for first edition/first printing copies. With gutter code T39 on the last text pages, numbered 822 and 823. This a true first trade printing copy, one of reportedly about 70,000 first printing copies produced in 1978! Comes in custom-made slipcase box. NOTE: This copy is NOT a BCE.

SOLD

Issue Points: Light brown/tan boards with black cloth spine, black lettering in gold on the spine and T39 code between the last text pages. The dust jacket features a Luke Skywalker-like character battling a reptilian foe, presumably Randall Flagg. States "First Edition" on the copyright page which indicates a first printing copy of the first edition. Front flap: T.S. $12.95 cover price, "THE STAND STEPHEN KING", blurb begins "The old Chevy came out of the Texas dusk at walking speed..." then (continued on back flap). Back Flap: blurb continues "The Stand is a story of dark wonders..." Photo of Stephen King, photo (c) by Lawrence Robins 1978, short bio of King, then Jacket Illustration by John Cayea, Jacket Typography by Elizabeth Levine, ISBN code 0-385- 12168-7, Printed in the U.S.A. on the bottom centered. The blurb which begins "Randall Flagg, the dark man, strode fourth on US 51..." on the back of the jacket and the title are both centered. Text-block edges are uneven as are ALL copies of the first printing.

Condition: Fine- in Fine- Jacket. An exceptionally nice copy, The book itself is near perfect, slight toning to the edges of the text-block, common with this edition. Boards are quite clean with some age-toning, Tiniest hint of a pencil gift inscription to the front inner board, 90% erased. The original jacket is NOT price-clipped ($12.95 present). NO tears and NO chips. It would be near-perfect save for the typical toning to the spine and slight toning to the flaps. The front illustration is very bright and clean.

NOTE on Edition: Approximately 70,000 trade hardcover first printing copies of "The Stand" were issued by Doubleday in 1978. The book was also published by New English Library in the UK in only 1000 to 2000 copies. King had written four previous books, beginning with "Carrie". When it came time for his follow-up book to "Carrie" his agent told him if he published Salem's Lot, a novel about vampires infiltrating a small New England town, he would be forever pegged as a horror writer.

"The Stand" was the first King hardcover to slip onto the best-seller list, but only briefly. When it was released in paperback the next year, it was tremendously successful, possibly the best-selling paperback of 1979. I am seeing some sellers asking $3000+ for copies in about the same condition. The only examples I can find right now which are in equivalent condition or better are priced at $2000+. Made into a television miniseries directed by Mick Garris starring Molly Ringwald and Gary Sinese. It was nominated for six prime time Emmy Awards. Literary scholars have compared the characters of Nick Andros, a deaf-mute, and Tom Cullin who is semi-retarded to the characters of George and Lenny in "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck. Interestingly, Steinbeck's primary publisher was Viking which became King's hardcover publisher in the US from 1979 to 1994.

NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.

ALSO: The pictures are of the actual item for sale. (The pictures are NOT stock photos.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: All sales are generally FINAL. I do NOT accept returns because of buyer's remorse, "it was a gift but the recipient already had it", or "I found the same book at a better price", or using my microscope I found a tiny mark on the back end-paper. Prices are based on current supply and demand. Returns are only accepted because of discrepancies regarding edition and/or condition of which I try to be very thorough in researching the edition/printing as well as describing ALL condition issues to the best of my ability. So make sure you're 100% positive you desire one of my items before making a purchase. If you have questions or desire further pictures, please send me a message before purchase.

Four-Volume First UK Hardcover Set of the Hyperion Cantos and Endymion Duologies. A less expensive alternative to the first US editions which can run you $2000+. NOTE: These are NOT bce's and NOT x-lib copies.
SOLD

Hyperion The first Hyperion Cantos Book by Dan Simmons Jacket. Hardcover First UK Edition - First Printing London: Headline, 1990. £13.95 cover price. (previously issued by Doubleday US in 1989.) Near Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket. A really nice copy. Main shortcomings are nicks to the corners of the jacket, and some spotting to the text-block edges (i.e. the page edges) and the typical toning you find with UK books produced circa 1980 to 2000. Still a very nice copy of a very uncommon book. Probably no more than 2000 copies issued, as was the first hardcover edition printed by Doubleday which tends to be priced at $1000+. Later reissued by Subterranean Press.

The Fall of Hyperion The second Hyperion Cantos Book by Dan Simmons Jacket. Hardcover First UK Edition - First Printing London: Headline, 1991. £14.95 cover price. (previously issued by Doubleday US in 1990.) Fine in Fine Dust Jacket. An exceptional copy, not often found as such. Main shortcoming is the typical toning you find with UK books produced circa 1980 to 2000 but much less than I've seen on other copies. A superb copy. Probably 2000 copies issued; the first hardcover edition printed by Doubleday was issued in reportedly 4000 hardcover copies, nowadays priced at about $400+. Later reissued by Subterranean Press.

Endymion The first of the Endymion Duology, and third book of Hyperion Cantos Dan Simmons Jacket. Hardcover First UK Edition - First Printing London: Headline, 1996. £16.99 cover price. (simultaneously issued by Bantam US.) Fine- in Near Fine Dust Jacket. A nice copy, notoriously difficult to find in perfect condition. The book itself would be just about fine save the main shortcoming which is the typical toning you find with UK books produced circa 1980 to 2000. Tiny hint of tenderness to the bottom corners. The jacket has some crinkling and edge-wear to the jacket mostly at the top and at the corners, but NO tears and NO chips.

The Rise of Endymion The first of the Endymion Duology, and third book of Hyperion Cantos Dan Simmons Jacket. Hardcover First UK Edition - First Printing London: Headline, 1997. £17.99 cover price. (simultaneously issued by Bantam US.) Fine- in Near Fine- Dust Jacket. A nice copy, like Endymion above, a notoriously difficult to find in perfect condition, and also it appears to be the rarest of the four books to acquire. The book itself would be just about fine save the main shortcoming which is the typical toning you find with UK books produced circa 1980 to 2000. Tiny hint of tenderness to the bottom corners, and the spine at top and bottom are a little bit inwards, which is not untypical for these books. The jacket has some crinkling and edge-wear to the jacket mostly at the top and at the corners, but NO tears and NO chips. (I found only one other copy for sale online in about the same condition with an asking price $500 and it appears to have sold! The only other copy I can find is an x-lib.)

NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.

ALSO: The pictures are of the actual items for sale. (The pictures are NOT stock photos.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: All sales are generally FINAL. I do NOT accept returns because of buyer's remorse, "it was a gift but the recipient already had it", or "I found the same book at a better price". Returns are only accepted because of discrepancies regarding edition and/or condition of which I try to be very thorough in researching the edition/printing as well as describing ALL condition issues. So make sure you're 100% positive you desire one of my items before making a purchase.

NOTE on USPS Shipping: Media mail $12.50, priority large flat-rate box, $25.00. $110 shipping to the UK and international. I tend to ship on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays sometimes on Friday. I do not ship on Mondays and Saturdays.

HP and the Chamber of Secrets and HP and the Goblet of Fire First Deluxe Editions, first printings, Bloomsbury UK, 1999, 2000 respectively .
$495 shipped both books.
Both books are essentially fine (without jacket as issued). Corners are straight, boards clean, pages clean. Just a hint of shelf-wear to the upper and lower spines for HPCS, and some rubbing to the right-hand edge of the text-blocks, so common with these deluxe UK editions. For HPGF, hairline graze to the upper right edge near "R" of "POTTER", barely noticeable, just a hint of shelf-wear to the lower spine and some rubbing to the right-hand edge of the text-block as typical.

For Sale: Complete Set of Dark Tower Books by Stephen King Nine books total in five slipcases.

The main series of seven titles plus two extra supplementary books, all published by Donald M. Grant: 9 Volumes, 8 First Editions/First Printings and 1 Second Edition of the Gunslinger by Grant. Three artist editions. Two supplementary books housed in five slipcases. The entire Donald M. Grant Dark Tower set, nearly all Fine in Fine dust jackets with just minor imperfections here and there. Please read ALL of the following before buying or emailing me with questions. There is a lot of information here.

$4500 shipped domestic US priority mail, $4600 Canada, $4700 UK and international.

Main Series: Books 1 to 7 NOTE: Books 1 to 3 in Grant issued slipcase, books 4 & 5 in after-market slipcase in a similar style, and books 6 & 7 in Grant issued slipcase..

The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger by Stephen King Illustrated by Michael Whelan Hardcover Second Edition West Kingston, RI: Donald M. Grant, 1984. Limited to 10,000 copies. Black boards clothed in a mostly black illustrated dust jacket on the front and a colorful illustration of Roland at a beach seeing the Dark Tower in the distance on the back. Five interior color plates by Michael Whelan, two of which were used for the front and back of the jacket. This is an excellent alternative to the first edition which is already fetching $2500 to $4500. The second edition in my humble opinion is a slightly better-made book than the first edition. The first edition was published in brown cloth boards which are susceptible to wear while the second edition is in much more substantial black boards. The only other difference (aside from stating "Second Edition" on the copyright page) is the title and author on the front jacket is more like a subdued gold-like color whereas the first edition was a bright yellow. See NOTE about the DT The Gunslinger below the listings of the books.

Fine- in Fine- Dust Jacket. A superb copy not often found as such. Book: only the tiniest hint of having been read, tiny indentation upper right-hand front corner, hidden by the jacket, and a tiny bit of rubbing at the corners, mostly lower spine. Tiniest hint of edge-wear to top and bottom spine and a hint of a nick to the upper front right

The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three Illustrated by Phil Hale Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Grant 1987. Black boards clothed in black and red dust jacket. 10 illustrated plates. Fine in Fine Dustjacket, near-perfect just about as perfect as you could ask for. This Appears as NEW and UNREAD. Also contains order slip for future Grant purchase.

The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands (sometimes misspelled Wastelands) Illustrated by Ned Dameron Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Donald M. Grant 1991 Black cloth. 12 color plates. Fine in Near Fine dustjacket, a beautiful copy. Sadly the jackets for this edition was rather thin and it’s difficult to find a perfect jacket. Has the typical nicks and edge-wear but NO major tears. Also contains an illustrated order slip for future Grant purchase.

The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass illustrated by Dave McKean Hardcover First Edition - First Printing Donald M. Grant 1997-1998. Black cloth.18 color plates. Fine in Fine Dustjacket, a beautiful near-perfect UNREAD copy.

The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla illustrated by Bernie Wrightson. Hardcover First Edition – Artist Issue - First Printing. One of 3500 copies signed by the late artist Bernie Wrightson. Donald M. Grant 2003. Black cloth. 12 color plates. Fine in Fine Dustjacket. The cover artwork is essentially the same but with a slightly different jacket design than the trade edition.

The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah illustrated by Darrel Anderson Hardcover First Edition – Artist Issue - First Printing. Donald M. Grant 2004. Limited to 3500 copies signed by Anderson with slightly different jacket art than the trade edition. Black cloth, 10 color plates. Fine in Fine Dustjacket.

The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower illustrated by Michael Whelan Hardcover First Edition – Artist Issue - First Printing. Donald M. Grant 2005. Limited to 5000 copies signed by Michael Whelan. 12 color plates. Fine in Fine Dustjacket.

Supplemental Books:

The Little Sisters of Eluria with the complete The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger (the first Grant edition of the revised version). Hardcover First Edition – Gift Issue/Gift Edition in Slipcase. Illustrated by Michael Whelan. Hampton Falls, NH: Donald M. Grant, 2008. Limited to 4000 copies numbered and signed by the artist Michael Whelan. This is copy no. 1678 of 4000. Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket and Fine- Slipcase. A superb book and slipcase. Only a touch of edge-wear to the back flap top edge of the jacket, and a few little tiny dings here and there to the slipcase, very minor. The Little Sisters of Eluria is a novella concerning Roland just before the events of the first DT volume.

The Dark Tower 4.5: The Wind Through the Keyhole A novel set in the Dark Tower universe. Illustrated by Jae Lee. Hardcover First Edition in Slipcase limited to 5000 copies signed by the artist Lee. Hampton Falls, NH: Donald M. Grant, 2012. Fine in Fine Dust Jacket and Fine Slipcase. The story takes place between DT IV and V.

Special NOTE on The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger: The first appearance of these interconnected stories of Roland, the Man in Black and his quest for the Dark Tower were originally published in the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction from 1978 to 1981. In 1982, Donald M. Grant publisher of classic SF/Fantasy, particularly of Robert E. Howard, published the stories (now chapters) plus an Afterword in hardcover as The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger, the first hardcover appearance of what begins the Dark Tower series. Only 10,000 hardcover copies were printed, a small run even for King whose first printings of his new titles in hardcover were now typically 100,000 to 200,000. Only customers at specialty SF/Fantasy bookshops and book fairs would have been privy to the release of this book. King honestly believed it wouldn’t be particularly popular.

In the first edition of “Pet Sematary: (Doubleday, 1983), “The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger” was listed as one of King’s books. It was the first mention of the Dark Tower in one of his books, and apparently, King fans went wild. Here was a Stephen King book few King readers had ever heard of! Word spread fast of the book, and fans contacted bookshops, publishers, and there were even attempts to contact the author directly. King and Grant realized they had underestimated interest in the book, and Grant quickly ran off a second edition of another 10,000 copies. The copy herein is from the second edition. King believed because of unexpected interest decided to continue the series. Paperbacks of the Dark Tower: The Gunslinger eventually appeared. Donald M. Grant continued to publish the series in hardcover. The first book is the only one to have had two editions two years apart.

Fine- in Fine-/Near Fine++ Dust Jacket. An exceptionally nice copy, with the typical shortcomings which plague the book and jacket because Doubleday was still not laminating their jackets and using relatively cheap paper and binding materials. Still one of the better examples I've seen compared to most copies of the early editions/printings. Boards are quite clean and intact, very slight hint of tenderness to corners, the lettering on the spine is very bright and clear. Pages are for the most part clean with some age-toning to the edges.

Dust Jacket Condition: The price-intact dust jacket is nearly fine condition, NO tears and NO chips. There is some age-toning, particularly noticeable on the spine and back. If the jacket was brighter, I'd be asking $2000+. All things considered an exceptionally nice copy not often found as such.
