I'm a small business in Nebraska that currently works under Cottage Food Law. This is the story about how we came about and my dreams for Dino Freeze. My husband and I worked as Over-the-Road Truck Drivers for various companies. While on the road we came to the quick realization that in order to eat we had a few options. They were to buy food from the truck stops which was very costly, buy canned
or non-refrigerated prepared foods to last a month on the road, or lastly a combination of both. The options weren't very nutritious or delicious. We tried precooking, freezing, and vacuum sealing our own homemade food. That was helpful but that would only last about 2 weeks in our truck fridge, then back to truck stop or canned food. Plus it always took 15 to 45 mins to heat up food in our heater lunch box because we had no microwave. Then one day we were watching YouTube in our free time and came across Freeze Drying. We looked into it and sure enough we could prepare our homemade food, freeze dry it, and store it for years! So we started our freeze dry journey. It's easy to make, package, and store. We made steamed veggies with roasted chicken, asparagus with a baked potato and sliced steak, sliced cucumbers coated with powdered ranch, pickles, and so on! All we had to do was eat right out of the bag or add a little hot water and BOOM we had an easy meal that took 15 mins or less to make. No warmer, microwave, stove, or an oven! That is where the dream of having a freeze dried business started. My ultimate goal and dream is to prepare freeze dried meals and snacks for all those who want nutritious and delicious food. But it's important to know we were born and raised in Arizona, and as we traveled the county we fell in love with Nebraska. So we made the move and bought a hundred year old house which needed and still needs Love, Care, and Home Improvements to be livable. With this big life change I took time off from trucking to move, unpack, and make home improvement. My wonderful husband said "take this time to start your business and try for your dreams". So here I am starting small with candies and treats under Cottage Food Law. Hoping with the help of all you beautiful people I can eventually get bigger and go commercial to make meals, snacks, and sweets for any and everyone!
