We’ve been redoing our windows at Tricks & Treats. Our very talented manager and designer, Kelly Levesque, is doing a Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale theme for each window. Here is Hansel & Gretel which is perfect for our ice cream and candy shop!

Our trip discovering Christmas traditions in Germany continues! In the 1800’s, German toymakers worked in watermills, using the power of falling water to turn large wheels and gears. These mechanisms would spin blocks of wood, allowing artisans to steadily carve smooth shapes into toys and figurines.

We visited one watermill that still uses this mechanism today. It was incredible to see spirals of wood ribbons cascading through the air as the steel tool etched into the wood, turning imagined characters into handcrafted toys and figurines. #

We’ve been traveling across Germany, Poland and Czech Relublic finding amazing new product for our stores and filming the multi-generational families owned businesses who work hard to keep these traditional crafts alive. Here we are at the Nutcracker Museum in Germany a bit tired but still having fun!

Greg & Stephen are in Germany filming traditional Christmas manufacturers. We stopped at Wilhelm Schweizer in Bavaria, a company over 230 years old — that’s eight generations!

It was amazing to see them pour pewter into hand-carved molds to create gorgeous figurines, which are then meticulously hand-painted.
