It all started with a birdhouse renovation....
We decided to renovate a birdhouse that came with the home we purchased in the fall of 2020. In the fall of 2023 some tweeties had occupied the house and raised a family. It was so much fun to watch. We thought we could clean it out, slap some paint on it and hang it back up on the porch. The end result was gross.
I'd seen lots of incredible things being made from pallets on various youtube channels. I talked my husband into a fresh build using said pallets. The result was terrific!
We contacted some wildlife professionals and read up on the needs of different species to ensure our builds are safe and inviting for the birds.
as the builds accumulate we continue to improve human entertainment with little details like fun cleanout hardware, feeding boxes and solar porch lights.
The homes are made from reclaimed pallets and leftover construction lumber. They all have drain holes, cleanouts and a roughed up interior (so the birds can easily get out). All are finished with linseed oil.
For bookworms and graduates we offer book benches that can easily be transformed to a working birdhouse by screwing in the hanging hook when you are ready to invite your tweety friends to set up house.
Our birds from last year are back and checking out the new digs. We've named them Lucy and Desi :)
So, we can officially say our homes are bird approved!
