Some of my chicks get free access to Mom’s bed whenever they want—sometimes I even nap with them 🥰. Once they’re moved outside, they’ll still have this treat from time to time.

They have their own blanket that covers the bed in case of accidents, but they almost always choose my bed when they want to relax. This is two of the four lucky chicks that get bed privileges—I can’t let all of them in, or it would be complete chaos.

They’re just living their best life ❤️

For clarification: they’re only inside until their outdoor run is ready 😉. After that, they’ll still be able to come in occasionally, but they’re not house hens. 🥰

Just wanted to share my chicken water dispenser in case anyone else has been trying to figure out how to keep water cool for the flock during hot summer days.

I used a cooler with PVC and automatic poultry cups, and it works great. You can freeze a large bottle overnight—milk jug, jar, soda bottle, whatever fits—then drop it into the cooler with the water. It helps keep the water cold all day so the chickens have something cool to drink in the heat.

So it finally happened today… I found the chickens’ secret hiding spot! 😂

I’m a first-time chicken mom and haven’t been able to get them to nest in the coop. They’d been using my patio, and I’d find an egg here or there, but nothing for a couple of days. While doing yard chores, I went on a little hunt… and y’all, I actually gasped! 🤣🤣🤣

Also, don’t worry about the poo stains—they’re just from the nest. I scrubbed my little fingers sore, but it’s nothing to stress over.

Accidentally left my enclosure open last night, and when I was rounding up my girls this morning, I found these three new additions in my flock—they’re not mine.

Gave them some food and water and now I’m just waiting to see who comes looking for them.

It was a scorching 100° day, so I thought I’d cool them off… by handing the flock a frozen rotisserie chicken. 😂🔥

Needless to say, they were not impressed. 🤷‍♀️

Here’s a rewritten caption for your last image while keeping the meaning intact:

"Okay, I have to share this! I honestly thought my chickens had passed away. The sun came out, and there they were, just lying on the same carpet my dog uses over the gravel. Being a new chicken mom, and with my husband away, I panicked and thought they were dead! Luckily, he had mentioned this behavior before, or I’d still be googling what went wrong. One of the most heartwarming moments for me—watching them grow is such a joy."

Momma hen: smarter than we give them credit for. 🐔✨

One of my Erminette hens hatched a clutch of babies. I usually let them stay in the center of the barn until they’re a bit older, with mom hovering nearby. A few nights ago, I forgot to block the bottom of the door, and by morning, 3 of her 9 chicks were gone—likely a bullsnake. 💔

Last night, I set things up properly, expecting mom and chicks to stay on the floor. But when I checked the coop, she had carried all 6 surviving babies up onto the sawhorse roost under her wings! She remembered losing chicks before and didn’t want to risk it again.

Never underestimate a hen’s ability to reason.

I’m starting to think my chicken might be broken. 😅

Instead of scratching around the yard like a normal hen, she decided the kiddie pool was her new personal spa. Just floating around like she paid for a day pass.

OMG, what the far fig newton (my polite way of cursing, lol) are these things?!

I’ve been finding them since I moved onto this large property, but I’ve never seen anything like this. They were in a 25–30 gallon planter, and I know I didn’t get them all—there’s easily 200–300 of them.

Can my chickens eat these? I worry that if they do, something weird could happen inside their stomachs—probably overthinking it, but that’s just how my brain works.

What’s the secret to keeping these watering cups clean?

I swear I clean them and within a day they’re full of dirt, bedding, and whatever else the chickens decide to kick into them. There has to be a better way—what are y’all doing to keep these from getting trashed so fast?
