Meet Ilse Santiago founder of “Jardin Bordado.” 🔆 🌾💐🌻 “Hello, my name is Ilse Santiago. I come from a family of textile artisans, I grew up among blanket fabrics and threads. When I was little, my mother taught me how to embroider, but it wasn't until I was 21 years old that I took it up again and began to learn and advance little by little in my free time.

So I started teaching myself and trying different techniques. After a while I found myself with the idea of of starting my own Chocolate business. Hola yo soy Araceli,
I am an Otomi Indigenous woman from Santiago Mexquititlan Amealco,Queretaro. The Otomi doll has been a presence in my community for over 30 years. I remember watching my mom making one, and that’s how I began to take interest in the process.Although, at the beginning I only helped my mom with the paint or getting all the materials ready. About 14 years ago I began to make the doll on my own, from creating the shape of the doll to weaving the clothing. We want people to see our work and not just understand the process we go through since it’s complex and long, but to actually value the effort and time that goes into making these crafts. Everything we make is made by hand, we all work in Santiago, from our kids to older adults since it's a process that takes time and a lot of effort. Thanks to these crafts we are able to feed our family and we hope that our work can be seen by many and appreciated. Everything we make we make with love and in a way to survive.
