📖 A Change of Pace This Week

In honor of Vacation Bible School and this year’s theme of Psalm 23, I’m taking a short break from our study in James to spend this week reflecting on one of the most beloved passages in Scripture.

Psalm 23:1 (NIV)
“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.”

What a comforting reminder that our Good Shepherd knows us, leads us, protects us, and provides everything we truly need. No matter what this week brings, we can rest in His faithful care.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being our Good Shepherd. Help us to trust You completely, follow where You lead, and find peace in knowing that You are always with us. Teach us to rest in Your provision and Your perfect care. Amen.

📖 James 2:6–7 (NIV)

“But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong?”

James challenges believers to examine their hearts. Why would we show favoritism toward those who may misuse their influence while overlooking those whom God values? Our worth is not found in wealth, status, or position, but in belonging to Christ. May we treat every person with the same love, dignity, and respect.

For the next 22 days, I’m going to read James 2 every day, and I invite you to join me! Each day I’ll post a passage along with additional Scriptures that may provide more context. As you read, pray and ask God to give you fresh insight from His Word.

📖 James 2:1-4

James begins this chapter with a powerful reminder: God does not judge people by their appearance, status, or wealth, and neither should we. Our faith should be reflected in how we treat others.

🍝 Gluten-Free Date Night Win! 🍝

As someone who is limiting gluten due to a sensitivity (not an allergy), I wasn’t sure what I’d be eating on date night at Olive Garden. I figured my choices would be soup, salad, or giving in and eating gluten.

Thankfully, I discovered that Olive Garden has several gluten-sensitive options! 🙌

I enjoyed their gluten-free Rotini Pasta with Meat Sauce, along with a salad without croutons. The pasta was delicious, and I even asked for extra meat sauce. 😋

If you’re gluten-sensitive like me, don’t automatically cross Olive Garden off your list. It was nice to enjoy a date night without feeling like I had to settle for a side salad.

📖 James 1:27

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

True faith is more than words. It is shown by loving and caring for people in need and by living a life that honors God.

James reminds us that genuine Christianity is marked by both compassion and holiness. As followers of Christ, we are called to love others well and stay faithful to God’s truth.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, help us to live out our faith each day. Give us hearts that care for those in need and lives that reflect Your love and holiness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
