Making lamp shades is a meticulous and meditative process. To aid this process, rooms where lampshades are made tend to be quiet and cool.

For the x+l lamps we make, the lamp shade has an outer lining of hand-spun raw silk from textile maker Zanav, and an inner lining of thin cotton. A rigid film is used in-between the fabric layers to hold the shape of the lampshade.

Representing an artist such as Courtney Simon de Montfort is an honor…. Few artists stretch boundaries of material like she does… she literally wills them to work for her. In these three pieces you will see two thread and concrete works hanging above a beautiful table by Paul Troyano and the last one wood and thread work.
She is “sewing” wood and “sewing” concrete! Delightfully Beautiful.
