The last two months have looked a little different for me behind the scenes. A mental health crisis within my family pushed my own nervous system into what I can only describe as a functional freeze. Some days I showed up slower than usual… some days I needed to close the shop entirely.

And honestly? That’s been hard for me. I’m someone who likes to carry everything myself.

But in the middle of it all, something unexpected happened. I was forced to let go of some control and allow help in… and Jaylyn + Amanda have been an absolute angels through it all, stepping in and helping cover shifts at the shop while I worked through things mentally and emotionally. I’m so incredibly grateful for them.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that this season was actually repositioning things. Because of the help and support, Rusty Sugar is now moving into MORE open days and hours for June & July instead of less.

Sometimes the lesson isn’t “work harder.” Sometimes it’s learning you were never meant to carry everything alone.

Healing, help, community, rest, growth… sometimes they all arrive together in unexpected ways.

Thank you all for the grace, kindness, and support during this season. Truly. 💚

Today marks 2 years of Rusty Sugar…

Two years of opening the doors, creating little moments, meeting so many incredible people, and watching something that started as a small idea grow into something so meaningful.

I’ve learned a lot in these two years—about business, about people… and a lot about faith. About trusting God in the slow seasons, the uncertain ones, and the really beautiful ones too.

There were days I didn’t have it all figured out… but He always did.

Rusty Sugar has never just been a shop to me—it’s been a place filled with stories, connection, and so many little reminders of hope along the way.

I’m so grateful for every person who has walked through the door, supported, encouraged, and been part of this journey.

God is so good. Always.

The past couple weekends have looked a little different for me… life had other plans.

In the middle of it all, a friend I’ve met here in Nashville stepped in without hesitation—offered to open the shop for me this past weekend, even made the drive to Franklin to grab what was needed. Just kindness… no expectation behind it.

It made me think of Charlotte’s Web… how Charlotte never made a big deal out of what she was doing—she just quietly showed up for Wilbur in the ways that mattered most.

Sometimes the smallest acts… showing up, stepping in, doing what you can when someone else feels a little lost… that really is a tremendous thing.

Feeling really grateful for that kind of friendship.
