I am a non-profit organization and rely on help by good animal loving people like you. Welcome to our page where we are dedicated to saving and caring for feral felines in our community through the power of education and the practice of TNR. My name is Rusti, and I have built a little bit of kitty heaven. I am dedicated to saving as many ferals as I can and am passionate about educating others on

how to combat the astronomical numbers of feral cats world wide ! I release most ferals I trap but will keep all kittens, pregnant mommas and sick or injured kits. The kits I have at my facility now are ones that never left once released or have a lower survival rate in the swamp, so I have integrated them into my existing colony. It's hard work and it's not cheap, but I do what I can with what I've got. I apologize that I did not get to post an evening photo last night. My internet/electricity went out. I am a very hyper-active person and become extremely fumbled with boredom when I have no phone, no t.v, and no internet. Out here in the swamp when one goes, they all go. So a few years ago, I got rid of my cable tv not just to save money but b/c with the ' rabbit ears ' I bought, I now still have tv even without internet or cable. And yes, I have plenty to do around here and plenty of sweet faces to keep me from going stir-crazy thankfully. Cashew is one of those sweet faces. She's such a lovebug.

So, the other day I received a message from someone who had obviously been following the EMC for quite a while, and their question was, " Do you still feed the red heads ? "
YES ! Yes, I do ! They still flap around the yard waiting on me to hand feed them peanuts or nanner chips on a daily basis. If I ignore them, they will downright flog me ! LOL !!
I am guessing that I am on the 3rd or 4th generation of redheads by now. They can live over 15 years, but I have seen several babies being taught how to trust me for handouts ! It's a beautiful thing that I look forward to every single day. These are Red-bellied woodpeckers, but I have fondly always called them redheads. 😼
