To our beloved community,
Honestly, we never thought we’d have to write this post, but here we are… Deep breath…
From inception, our vision for this company was to be a small, hometown candy store that spread joy and positivity throughout the community. We wanted to handcraft confections you’d enjoy SO MUCH that you’d want to share the goodness with your family and friends during important life events such as: weddings, baby showers, holidays, birthdays, and beyond. We’re thrilled to say we accomplished that vision for nearly 9 years, but unfortunately, the time has come to close the doors.
Friday, May 31st, will be the last day of retail operations and the official closing of The Birmingham Candy Company. We post this with very heavy hearts. This was a near impossible decision for us to make mainly because we realize the ripple effect of sadness and loss that comes with this announcement. We know you’ll be grieving along with us over this loss, and for that, we’re so very sorry.
We understand that your natural next question may be “WHY?”. Welp, the answer is not a simple one. It is a combination of things, but to put it simply, the financial strain of the situation was too great to endure. We’ve both sacrificed immensely over the years, and it is simply no longer sustainable for us. It was our dream to continue to serve but alas, business operations require funds. Financially speaking, it’s a tough world out there right now.
Finally, we saved the best for last. YOU! We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the blessings and memories you’ve given us over the years. To say we couldn’t have done it without you is a HUGE understatement! You helped us grow and build our vision all the way from markets, to pop-ups, to our first location, and beyond. You granted us the opportunity to serve you and your loved ones. We’ve always considered it a great honor to be a part of your celebrations and life events. It’s something that we’ll hold in our hearts forever.
If you get a chance, we’d really appreciate you coming by the shop before the end of the month so we can officially thank you in person. We love you all!
