On this day in literary history...
December 23, 1823
'Twas the Night Before Christmas, originally titled "A Visit from St. Nicholas," was first published on December 23, 1823 in The Sentinel, a newspaper based in Troy, New York. The poem was written by Clement Clarke Moore and has since become a staple of Christmas literature.

Our family like many others has the tradition of reading the poem together with our children, on Christmas Eve. Homemade hot chocolate and cookies.

So I just spent an hour preparing an awesome post, tagging all of the Town of Mount Pleasant small businesses, and Facebook told me I tagged too many people and then deleted my post. I guess that means Mount Pleasant has a very long list of wonderful small businesses.

So in short, please shop at Mount Pleasant's small businesses this Saturday. All businesses are accessible during the waterline project. You just have to add a few extra minutes and patience to your schedule. Challenge yourself to buy at least half of your Christmas gifts at Mount Pleasant small businesses.
