🐞 Hope Remains
Day 7 - Moving Forward
One thing I've learned over the past 27 years is that I don't believe we ever "move on" after losing a child.
We move forward.
Moving on sounds like leaving them behind.
Moving forward means carrying them with us.
As I look at this picture of Brittany today, I can't help but smile. She was always moving, always exploring, always finding joy in the simplest things.
In many ways, she's still helping me move forward.
I still think about her every day. I still wonder what she would be doing, what kind of woman she would have become, and whether she'd be raising children of her own.
Those thoughts don't pull me backward anymore.
They remind me how deeply I love her.
I've learned I can carry grief and still choose joy. I can miss my daughter while embracing the life God has placed in front of me.
The two can exist together.
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!"
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)
For me, that "new thing" wasn't forgetting Brittany.
It was discovering that God could bring purpose, peace, and even joy into a life that once felt shattered.
🐞 Because love remains... hope remains. ❤️
