A new cast iron pan here ๐Ÿฅ˜๐Ÿณ

I'm using my cousins method to season it which involves Crisco ๐Ÿคฎ. But I trust it's going to work awesome because he's awesome and great in the kitchen!

I need to be using this a lot more to get in the iron - my recent bloodwork numbers were no bueno in the iron area.

Tell me YOUR method of seasoning a new cast iron pan.

Today's native beauty right here in Milton, Florida. We are so lucky to have the Blackwater River State Forest right in our backyards. The beach on one side - forest on the other. I'd say we live in a pretty special place in this country ๐ŸŒŽโค๏ธ๐ŸŒผ

Today is World Ocean Day ๐ŸŒŠ

This is just one of my 3 projects out on Pensacola Beach making a small impact to help mitigate plastics along our coastline.

12 trash bag boxes
12-15 borrow bins
2 'vote with your butt' receptacles

Our oceans are so important, as are the creatures that call it home ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿข. We've gotta do our part.

Bob Sikes Bridge was pretty gross today. So much trash and we were out there just one month ago. Lots of plastic bags, wrappers, styrofoam cups, cigarette butts, straws, fishing line. Some of the odd items were a golf ball, multiple floaties, vice grips, huge piece of pipe, and a nasty hair brush. Wish people could be more responsible.

What a great cleanup today!

I ran the Bruce Beach site ๐ŸŒŽ

29 volunteers
149 lbs

Tons of styrofoam cups, cigarette butts, food wrappers, cans....same crap.

Fun finds were both a Sonic plushy and a figurine, multiple condoms, socks, shoes, a miniature dagger type thing, lots of parade beads ๐Ÿ™„.

Love these people and love what we do โค๏ธ.

๐Ÿซ˜ Food Friday ๐Ÿซ˜

It's been a hot minute but here's a dank ass soup I created last night. Let's call it White Bean Soup

Ingredients:

Diced tomatoes
White cannellini beans
White butter beans
Carrots
Celery
Onion
Garlic
Kale
Mustard leaves (optional)
Veg paste
Nutritional yeast
Salt
Pepper
Water

Simple directions: saute veg first then add the rest (except the greens) and simmer for an hour and a half. Add greens 20 min before serving.

Guys, this is delicious.

We mostly focus on marine debris and protecting waterways, but the reality is - the litter is everywhere. Today, we are sharing this lovely forest litter a hiker left behind.

Let's look at who litters....the answer is simple: humans. Humans of all races, genders, and groups/communities. We understand that humans are to blame for the litter we see around. Humans are also the ones responsible for cleaning it up and making better choices about things. We show litter in our area to bring awareness and hopefully inspire behavior change. Let's - everybody, everywhere. ๐ŸŒŽ Environment America

This morning was ๐Ÿ”ฅโ˜€๏ธ hot ๐Ÿฅต.

112 lbs of litter picked up by 24 volunteers. Same s**t just a different day - tons of plastic everything, aluminum cans, cigarette butts, broken glass, styrofoam - SO MUCH OF IT. Odd items of the day included a screwdriver, a lug nut, a tennis ball, a bike, not one but TWO pregnancy tests, and some sort of mold for baking or play doh.
Tired of careless, entitled people and their s**tty habits. Thankful for friends and random strangers that come together to help with our mission week after week.

๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒŠ One Bag = Big Impact ๐ŸŒŽ๐ŸŒŠ

For the last 8 months, Iโ€™ve had the privilege of overseeing this project alongside two incredible Eagle Scouts. A resurrected project after Hurricane Sally destroyed the original boxes we had installed years ago.

The concept is simple: grab a paper bag, pick up beach litter, and dispose of it in the nearest trash bin.

There are now 12 of these stations installed at walkovers from Park East to Park West.
A huge thank you to Eagle Scouts Jackson and Porter for all of their hard work fundraising, following the exact specs I provided, and seeing this project through to completion. Also, thank you to Santa Rosa Island Authority and Public Works for supporting both this project and our organization ๐ŸŒŽ.

Proud of these kids, proud of myself! We made s**t happen! ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’ช
