When I design and make a new soap I get so excited to cut the loaf of soap and see what the bar is going to look like once cut. It’s like Christmas morning for me. Sometimes I’m giddy with excitement at how cute it turned out. The fragrance, the design… when it works and it turns out so well it’s amazing.
Then other times, I design a new soap with a new fragrance and I’m disappointed. This is one of those times.
I made a soap with a fragrance called tropical suntan. The fragrance smells amazing. So for the design of this soap I wanted to do a beautiful sunset with oranges and pinks and purples and blues on the edges…. And while this soap looks ok, it did not come out like I’d hoped. And then to top it off, the fragrance did not hold during the saponification process and so it smells like nothing! What a bummer.
I made 50 bars of this soap! Ugh!
Just wanted to give you some behind the scenes of the soap making process. Sometimes it doesn’t work out as planned.
