First off, let me introduce myself! My name is Jenny and I am from Jacksonville, FL. My husband is former military and one of the places we were lucky enough to live was Hawaii! I collected a TON of sea glass from the beaches there and began making myself and family jewelry with it! It caught on like wildfire and here we are! I create sea glass jewelry, hand stamped metal jewelry, sea glass/beach

I refuse to ONLY post the highlights of my journey back to the bench.
I was SO frustrated on day 2 & it almost led to me spending $500 on new equipment that I’ve never used before😳 because I was convinced the problem wasn’t me.

Don’t worry. I checked myself 😂 & put the phone down before I could make an angry impulse buy.

I had to remind myself that I have used my method of a small butane torch VERY successfully for thousands of pieces and that maybe my first day back was a little bit of “beginners” luck.

Silversmithing is something that takes TONS of practice, and I haven’t even held a torch in almost 6 YEARS. So I took a beat & quit for the day and have taken the weekend to regroup and get ready to try again on Monday.

I’m just SO eager to get back to working with my hands and creating. Something I previously believed would NEVER happen again.

Sorry this isn’t nearly as lighthearted & happy as my other posts, but I want to be able to look back at EVERY part of this journey and be proud that I pushed through the bad days🫶🏼

I MADE A RING!!!🥹

I decided to just dive headfirst back into trying to regain my silversmithing skills and it went so much better than I could’ve imagined!

Five years ago I could’ve made this ring in less than 30 minutes. It took me almost 5 hours today, but that was with having to completely relearn almost step-by-step. I am so freaking proud and also very annoyed that I didn’t have any vinegar to make my nontoxic pickling solution to take the fire scale off of it😒😒😂😂

Just had to share this exciting update because it happened so much sooner than I thought it would!! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

(There is a Seaglass ring on the bench in one of the photos or videos. That is the one that I wear on my hand and I had taken it off to study it while I was trying to make the simple ring band. Not even close to being at the point where I can make a Seaglass ring yet, but we will get there!!!)

SALTED BY JEN IS RE-OPENING?! 🥹

Hey salted fam🥰 I know. It’s been a LONG time.
It’s been over 5 years since my battle with a brain tumor, and I’m finally ready to REALLY give this a go.

In case you missed it, I lost a large portion of my vision & developed a tremor in my hand after undergoing brain surgery to remove a large brain tumor. Those 2 things left me unable to do the delicate work needed to create your custom pieces. I was absolutely devastated. To lose the business I had put my entire life into was more than I could handle.

But I’m doing amazing these days and while I still have a small tremor in my hand, I have learned to adapt to my new limited vision and know my triggers for my tremor, so I’m usually able to keep it at bay.

I will have to relearn pretty much every part of this business, but I’m ready.

The studio is back up and ready so I thought I’d share it here as the first official post documenting the salted by Jen comeback!

I have no re-opening date, but I’ll be documenting my re-learning process & all the highs & lows along the way! 🫶🏼🫶🏼

If you follow me on my other accounts, you already know this information. But I have recently started to slowly make jewelry again now that we have gotten my vision to a place where I can actually see up close!!
This cute little dainty thing on my septum is one of the first things I’ve made, and I’m obsessed with it !
I have to relearn A LOT of things, and that will get frustrating, but this brain of mine did hold onto some things, and I’m so excited to get back at it!
I have absolutely no idea what kind of timeframe I’m looking at for possibly re-opening the shop, but I am back at my bench for the first time in two years and it’s really exciting 😭😭
To those who have stuck around, I love you and I’m so thankful for you!!

I know I am awful at updating this Instagram page, but it is so hard for me to come to this page and look at the business I worked so hard to build for six years now that I’m no longer able to do with my vision the way it currently is. I truly believe someday I’ll be able to get back to creating magical pieces for you guys. But until then I’m just kind of going with the flow of where life leads me.
Last week I had my one-year MRI to check for tumor regrowth, and my scan was clear! The tumor has not regrown and there are no new tumors! It feels incredible to be able to say that and we can now breathe easy for a little while.
I can’t wait for the day to come where I can announce that I am open again. There are still so many of you here and I’m not exactly sure why, but I do know I am so incredibly thankful you are. 🖤🖤🖤

My studio has turned into my office for & it is so bittersweet. I miss making your special pieces. I miss getting tagged in your beautiful photos wearing pieces I made with my hands. I miss it all🥺 Never did I think I would still be closed this far out from surgery. But man, let me tell you, recovering from brain surgery is...extremely frustrating. It is my dream to reopen. Just like it was my dream 5 years ago to begin this business. I miss you all, & thank you for sticking around & being so understanding. Love you🖤
