Part 1; For the newer traditional bow shooters, both recurve and longbow, my long-time friend Butch Bertram of ColdArrow Archery thought we would make a couple videos on the basics of shooting techniques. If you are very new to traditional archery, this is a good place to start.

Also, take a look at Butch's broadheads. I'll bet that, if you try them, you will be very pleased to say the least. He definitely put a great deal of thought into them before he started. Go to his website and read some of the testimonials. I cannot stress enough how well he has made his broadheads.

"BCY’s B55 is a durable, high-performance polyester string material. (Polyester is the kind of material the old slower “Dacron” was made from.) This low-stretch polyester is faster than ever but still safe to use on any bow new or old. For anyone shooting vintage Fred Bear bows, this is the perfect string to get the best performance without any chance of harming the bow.

Recommended strands: 12-16 for recurves

D97 is a popular choice for recurve shooters. D97 is a popular choice for recurve shooters, and for bows with reinforced tip.

Not recommended for older wood bows without reinforced tips unless the loops are padded. Without padding, it puts too much stress on the string grooves. We can pad the loops at no added cost.

We started this family business because since I retired some years back, it can be difficult for us to buy new equipment because of the cost factor. We found we can make it ourselves a little cheaper, so we did. My archery friends then wanted us to make strings for them and they like them, so we thought, why not start a little business.

We offer ready made strings that you see in the posts on this page, and we make a custom strings to fit your longbow or recurve, in your choice of colors.

We make our strings, with BCY string material.
B55 is similar to Dacron but with better durability and lower stretch.

We also use BCY D97, which add speed to your bow because it lass stretch than B55.

D97 is not recommended to older bows that do not have reinforced tips. Because it has less stretch, it puts stress on the string grooves and can damage your bow. If you want to use D97, the loops would have to be padded. We can do that at no extra cost to you.
These are the same string materials, and same Flemish twist technique that all of the traditional archery industry uses for traditional bows.

We try to keep our prices low, so you can enjoy traditional archery without breaking the bank. Let us make a string or two for you. We think you'll be happy.

We also make fur string silencer that we cut from hides ourselves. We offer:

We also make wool string silencers that are very effective. They are cheap to make and we pass that on to our customers.

We make string maker's wax that is a blend of bee's wax and pine rosin in a ratio that makes wax for your bow string.

Here at LDK Traditional String & Things we want to give our customers the same great quality as anyone, but at a little lower cost.

Don't be fooled by the lower cost. We just don't charge as much as most.

All we are trying to do is make some good products, and put money back into the business to keep it going, and maybe make a little pocket change for my ci**rs! Who doesn't love a good Nicaraguan cigar? lol
