Is alcohol a clear liquid? 🍺🍷🥃
Short answer: No.
Most providers recommend avoiding alcohol for at least 24 hours, often several days before a colonoscopy.
Why? Alcohol can:
• Cause dehydration, making prep harder
• Thin the blood, increasing procedural risk
• Stain the colon, which can mimic abnormalities
• Interfere with sedation and recovery
When in doubt, skip it and follow your provider’s instructions closely!
