What an exciting mid morning hunt. As my dad napped I heard a hen across the river so I started answering her, which turned into an all out bickering match between her and I. By now my dad was obviously awake. After calling back and forth with her for a bit and seeing the tom and jake's with her, we made her mad enough to fly across the river to us. The jake's and tom followed. I continued to call on my 3" leopard wood copper over slate Closer Call using an acrylic striker and brought the tom within shooting distance. With a short gobble on my mouth call he lifted his head in the brush and I took the shot, harvesting my first turkey of the season.

Brought him close enough with my Closer Calls. Will post more photos and the story on how it all went down tonight! ...
