Though I wore and abandoned several body piercings throughout my teenage years, I had always shied away from the body modification I truly wanted to make: stretching my ears. I had never found plugs that matched my style, they all screamed of neon colors and jagged spikes, whereas I was a little more feminine. After years of debate and putting it off, I stretched my precious lobes to a 2 gauge over several months, wearing simple black plugs in each. I searched high and low, but the truly artisan plugs that were beginning to emerge were mostly aimed at a 0 gauge and higher. Any plugs below that size were bore designs that were too tiny to see, and I was disappointed countless times to find the images on my plugs were only visible with a microscope. So with an important event just around the corner, I knew it was time to take matters into my own hands and make some plugs that would make me feel pretty again. I got many compliments that night, and many other girls with small sized gauges expressed their own struggles with finding plugs that looked nice enough for an evening out. And thus, out of the back bedroom (which I fondly now call the Bead Cave) of our home, Perfection Petals was born. I have always had a love of gardening, and of crafting, so when these hobbies collided into my interest in body modification, I found something that truly inspires and fuels me. I love making these plugs, and I always hope that the home they find helps their owner feel a little prettier, too, because everyone deserves that.
