Here's something a select few people should understand:

In the Midwest and the South, the way to express loyalty and friendship is to discount the good or services provided.

On the west coast and northeast, the way to do the same is to graciously pay full price.

Get that right and transactions go smoothly at worst and "love and brotherhood" at best in either scenario.

Get that wrong and your best case is slightly annoyed and your worst case is draining to say the least.

Hence me just paying $1900 to an east LA mechanic shop and thanking her for the privilege.
