I chose these 3 shades of green for a project. Yes I know the middle green looks tan, but I promise its a sage green!

Anyway, I'm a little disappointed by how they look within the project. Crocheted within a tan yarn, they are really hard to tell apart. I dont understand how this is working, but the struggle is real!

I'm too far into the project to change colors now, and too invested to undo the hours I've put into the project. And even though these colors aren't doing exactly what I thought they would, its still a beautiful project! I can't wait to share, and even plan the next color combo!

Stay tuned for the reveal later this week!

Yesterday I started a new project! It was a "new to me" stitch. Not hard, very basic, but I found a video on YouTube to show me how it worked up.

When you start a project, you need to know how many stitches to start with. A lot of what I do is freehand, but some stitches require a set amount of chains to complete the stitch. So for example, this project needed needed 3+2. 3 stitches to complete a stitch set + 2 stitches that are used when you start the new row.

Now here's the where it got interesting, she chained 3 stitches, and put a double crochet in the first chain.... I can't share this project yet, but I will refer to this post when I do share. 3 stitches and 1 double crochet is significantly less stitches than I needed for my project! I needed 102+2 stitches, and was incredibly confused by where this lady was going.

Then I learned something new! I learned how to make a foundation ROW! All these years of crocheting... something like 20-25 years of crocheting.... 20-25 years of starting every project with a chain, and I learned how to make a foundation row!

I have hated making chains... they twist, they're hard to keep count of, they pull creating gaps, and I don't like the way the end looks after you've put the first row in.

20-25 years and I finally learned a better way! I turn 40 next month, and all I could think was apparently you can teach an old dog a new trick 🤣🤣🤣

LATE last night, I finished this mermaid blanket! I wanted to see if knitting was an option for these mermaid blankets because I really like the way the stitches look. I think this is a successful mock up!

I didn't expect that I would need to use different colors, but I was pulling from the yarn if have, and I think it may actually work... what do you think?!

That fin is giving me lots though...

Its like riding a bike! This is the first time I've picked up knitting needles in YEARS!

After looking up a video called knitting for absolute beginners 😅 I remembered what I was doing about 2 minutes in. It wasn't that video that helped me, it was the picture of the video under it 🤷‍♀️. Casting on was quickly solved, and off i went!

The thing is, I never learned anything more than the basic stitch 😬 I would look at a pattern and think "That's way too complicated " and honestly, still feel that way. But we're going to experiment, and see what happens. It's nice to change up the method with which I complete projects!

This is an experiment with blanket yarn. Will it be the mermaid blanket or a shawl?! Who knows 😆 ...

Today is a late post because I LITERALLY just finished this wrap! Just a few minutes ago! Another church wrap in the books... May God bless and keep the one who wears this wrap, and shine His face upon her, her children, and her grandchildren!

The three Goodwill bags! I still can't believe I found 3 of the same bags, on 3 different trips to 2 different Goodwills. It's probably time to go back to Goodwill looking for a fourth 😆

This was this past weeks project! A work-up similar to another purse I've made.

All my purses are custom bags. There is no pattern, no directions. I really have no idea how many stitches or specifics. I take the requested colors and start crocheting. And this may sound weird, but I try to feel what fits the purse, then pair that with what fits the person. I pray over my projects. I pray for direction and abilities, but more than that I pray that every project I make brings peace to the buyer. That each project carries Jesus with it.

Now if I find a fourth version of this purse, thats a God thing!

We have hit the warm weather full force, and took the kids to the fair.... what i learned is that my mind thinks I'm younger and can handle all the fun. My body rides one little kiddie ride and says ABSOLUTELY NOT! All that spinning made me as dizzy as could be.... I'll stick to the crocheting🧶🪢🧵 tune in Monday for a reveal!!!!!

Today is a little off our normal, beaten path...

I dabble in cooking 🤣. With my two kids, food isnt as simple as it used to be. With my daughter, she likes to try new things, but if something hits the spot, thats all she wants. Hot sauce on EVERYTHING is her love language. And when McDonald’s forgets the buffalo sauce, hell hath no fury like a scorned 6yo. Hew on the other hand is simple. He doesn't want sauce, and he better not see you look at his food with seasoning.

These 2 are never on the same page, and when I swore up and down that my kids would eat what I fix or go hungry, I had no idea what I was talking about. Ah, the pre-kids confidence.... I tried. I did try... multiple times. To rein the kids in. I tried reasoning... this is food you like, you've ate it before, just because you don't want it tonight doesn't mean you don't like it, mommy isnt a restaurant to order from I have no menu, this is dinner. They refused to eat. PERIOD.

They say kids won't starve themselves, when they get hungry enough they will eat 👀... not mine! My children would not be swayed. At bedtime they were offered a granola bar because they had not eaten all day, and they still refused! Before you come at me, I did talk to professionals about this and was told "You are offering them food, even if its not what they want, they will eat when they are hungry enough "

By the beginning of day 3 I caved. Judge me. Whatever. I couldn't handle knowing they were hungry, and them not eating. They were still fully bound and determined to go without food. But my kids are skinny, tall, bean poles, and I couldn't handle it 🤷‍♀️.

Since then, most days I can get away with one simple meal for both. But some days its waffles for one and tacos for another. Peanut butter sandwich for one, and Ramen for the other.

Since most food has to be created around the moods of my children, we don't experiment very much. We dont deviate from the approved foods list lol. But today I did! Something simple because let's not get crazy.

This is a cowboy salsa type situation, minus the tomatoes I forgot, and the tortilla chips thats my kids are raw. This dressing, combined with the creole seasoning taste AMAZING! I highly suggest making it!

P.s. my son thought it was crazy. Elli will love it. Matt hates it....

P.s.s. Elli did in fact NOT love it, and spit it out, as she was gagging...
