With the change of seasons, and our volunteers returning to their winter homes, we are embracing the quiet and reducing the number of days we are open. Beginning December, we will open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00-4:00.
The Bookworm is a used bookstore offering first -quality books at used book prices. All proceeds go to support the Hudson Library. We are grateful to each of our donors and customers for supporting our Library through their book donations and patronage. With summer upon us, and our volunteers returning to Highlands, we are able to expand our hours! Beginning June 2, we will open Monday through Saturday from 11:00-4:00.

With the fall upon us, and our volunteers returning to their winter homes, we are moving to a new schedule. Now, after Labor Day, we will open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00-4:00.

With Summer upon us, we are able to increase the days the Bookworm is open. Beginning Monday,June 2nd we will be open Monday through Saturday from 11:00-4:00. We are located in between the two Highland Hikers in the Falls on Main across from the library. Our address is 555 Main Street.

We are affiliated with the Hudson Library; all our books are donated, and all our proceeds go to help support our Library. Our shelves are full of first quality books sold at used book prices. We even have selected cookbooks half price on a special cart at the front of the store.

Do you love books, bookstores, and sharing books with others? Then, the Bookworm is a wonderful home for you. Described as the “Cheers” of Highlands Bookstores, the Bookworm is a warm and joyful place to spend time volunteering. Our shifts are only 2 ½ hours and are 11:00-1:30 or 1:30-4:00. Our volunteers are both full-time and seasonal residents.
While working at the front desk, our volunteers greet customers as they arrive, help direct customers to a particular book or section of books, and sometimes make recommendations when asked. Volunteers also process sales using our Square Credit Card Charge system.
Our customers are both full-time Highlanders and visitors alike. Many frequent visitors make the Bookworm a regular stop as a part of their ritual when visiting Highlands. Some customers come specifically to see certain volunteers as relationships develop.
We also need volunteers to help straighten the bookshelves and shelve books. Sometimes a volunteer will adopt a particular section, and maintain that section, such as cookbooks or children’s books, or history and biographies.
