Be honest… when was the last time you cleaned your front-load washer’s door boot? 👀

Moisture, detergent residue, lint, hair, and other debris can build up inside those folds, leading to odors, grime, and even clogged drain ports. A little regular cleaning, proper detergent use, and allowing the washer to dry out between loads can go a long way toward keeping things fresh and clean.

Sometimes the best appliance repair is the one you make before something breaks.

We recently showed you this older GE dryer that came into our shop in great condition. While refurbishing it, we found wear beginning in the front bearing. It was still running and the glides didn't look terrible—but the wear was already there.

Taking care of worn components early can prevent bigger problems, more expensive repairs, and sometimes the premature replacement of an otherwise good appliance.

A little preventative maintenance can go a long way toward getting more years out of your appliances!

A little pest can cause a BIG appliance problem. 🪳

German roaches love the warm, protected spaces inside appliances—and control boards can become an expensive casualty. In some cases, like the Frigidaire electric range control board in this video, it may not even be available anymore.

Even clean homes can have pest problems. Preventative treatment from a professional exterminator can be a whole lot cheaper than replacing a control board—or an entire appliance.

What happens to a used appliance before we put it up for sale?

This 10–11 year old GE dryer came to us after the previous owner replaced the appliances in their home. It runs great, looks good, and once we opened it up, it was obvious that it had been well taken care of.

We're giving it a thorough inspection, cleaning it up, and replacing a few worn parts before it goes back together and out the door.

Once we're finished refurbishing it, it'll be posted right here on Facebook for sale. Keep an eye out!

🔥 Your dryer needs to breathe!

A restricted or poorly maintained dryer vent doesn’t just make your clothes take longer to dry—it can cause excessive heat buildup and create a serious fire hazard.

Dryer vents should be 4 inches in diameter and kept as short and straight as possible. Every bend and turn adds resistance to the airflow, and lint buildup only makes the problem worse.

If your dryer is taking multiple cycles to dry, getting unusually hot, or you can barely feel air coming from the outside vent, it may be time to check that vent!

Keeping your dryer clean and properly vented can improve drying performance, reduce strain on the machine, and most importantly, help keep your home safe.
