When expressed her intention to use part of the Almanac book sales to support Community Cookouts, she shared with me Heleo Leyva's story: A Los Angeles community member who lost his food stand because of COVID, quarantine/social distancing... then came back to cook FREE meals for hundreds of residents in the City of LA who were impacted by COVID, when he himself was feeling those effects, too. If this is not the definition of LOVE, care, generosity, responsibility, & commitment! You are a blessing to the people ! Thank you for sharing the ritual of coming together as a community to cook and care for each other.

The backs of the bookmarks were naturally-dyed by myself and .l0ve using blueberries 🫐 and cebolla skins 🧅 ( ). I hand-stitched the border to add value to both sides, making it as enjoyable on the reverse side as it is on the front.
