Technically the Mavic Zap, was the fist commercially available electronic derailleur.

Introduced in 1992, at a time when mountain biking was all the rage and road cycling wasn’t getting the attention it had in previous years.

Since batteries would have been too cumbersome, it was powered by chain revolutions.

It was also wildly expensive, at a time when you could buy a high end road bike for around $1000 USD.

Did anybody ride with this great piece of kit, back in the 90’s?
