Ever wonder why a decent house cleaning costs more than people think… or why your cleaner is still there 8 hours later? 👀
Because cleaning a house and THOROUGHLY cleaning a house are two completely different things.
Anybody can wipe a counter in 30 seconds.
But scrubbing hard water buildup around faucets, detailing baseboards, cleaning behind toilets, degreasing kitchen cabinets, scrubbing grout, washing vents, moving clutter, vacuuming pet hair out of corners, and cleaning appliance interiors?
That’s the stuff that eats the clock alive.
Here’s the part most people don’t realize:
The last 20% of cleaning takes about 80% of the TIME.
Bathrooms and kitchens alone can take HOURS when they’re being cleaned correctly. Add pets, kids, dust, clutter, or years of buildup and suddenly that “simple clean” turns into an all-day project.
A true first-time deep clean on an average-sized home can easily take one experienced cleaner 6–10+ hours.
A large home? Sometimes 12+ or even a team.
And honestly?
A lot of us cleaners are out here crawling on floors, scrubbing grout with toothbrushes, lifting furniture, hand-detailing trim, and sweating our tails off while somebody says:
“Wow… that took awhile.” 😂
Trust me… we wish it only took 3 hours too.
Little tip from a cleaner:
If you’re hiring a professional, picking up clutter beforehand helps TREMENDOUSLY. The less time spent moving stuff around, the more time spent actually deep cleaning.
People see the finished house.
They don’t always see the labor behind the shine. ✨🧽
