Everyone loves a squarebill in the prespawn, but if you’ve followed my channel, you already know I’m reaching for the SCL Baby1 this time of year, especially when bass push shallow.

It’s kind of a hybrid. The bill is short, so you can fish it like a finesse wakebait. Where it really shines for me is fishing it a little faster. It will dive to about 3 feet and start banging off structure like a squarebill, but with a super tight action.

I like bright craw patterns in early spring, then switch to more natural colors once water temps get into the mid 50s. If you want to try one out this spring, “angling10” will give you 10% off.
