For an 1837 No Stars half dime, compare the top of the 1 and the date line: peaked and curved for Large Date, flat-top and straighter for Small Date. Confirm HALF DIME on the back before using the comparison—the similar dime has different diagnostics.

The Delaware half dollar says 1936 on the church side and 1638–1938 beneath the ship. It was struck in 1937. The different years explain its history, rather than establish a date error.
