Preliminary tests for the design previous, which I'm currently describing as the Polarity platform. Initial prints were quite successful, but the top interlocks are redundant, and will be removed. They will be replaced by buttons to keep the aesthetic.

The goal is to build more than just a pickup, but a modular platform that can swap out different split-coil configurations to mix and match different 'single-coil' tones, while combining said tones into a unique humbucker tone when more than one module is engaged in either series or parallel.

So, I do alot of work with pickups and whatnot, but I also do a lot of wiring mods for guitars and basses as well, from designing the mods pictured to entire drop-in systems.

If you build guitars, or like swapping pickups regularly and don't want to have to rip out the soldering iron every time, reach out. I can develop a system that will be compatible with any pickups and hardware you please, no matter who makes them... and it won't cost you a fortune, either.

This prototype has been a wild and frustrating ride. It's not pretty. It's not even potted! (I couldnt wait to test it 🤣) But it's sitting at a filthy 18k ohms, and still has all the pick attack of humbuckers half their resistance. Especially loving the parallel sound, has the perfect amount of 'chonk' on the chugs.

It looks like it got mugged because of many trial and error runs for the mounting system, as well as several used PCB's trying to figure out how I wanted to successfully route the loose copper wire for the platform. That's still kinda up in the air, but that sounds like an excuse for more prototypes. 🤔

New boards are in, perfect fit. Original designs had a soldered harness to the board, but I'm going solderless for ease ...

Revision 2, made the bobbin a bit beefier.

I design and print my own bobbins from scratch. This design is built specifically for swapping into multiscale instruments that are ported for standard-size pickups. The route can be slanted whichever way it pleases, and you'll still have full coverage of the strings by the wide poles.
