Hey there It's been a while since I've been active here and it hasn't gone unnoticed. I figured it's time to let you know why I’ve been away.
Last August, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with cancer. I became her full time caregiver for the short 9 weeks until her passing in October. While thankful for the illness's brevity and that she was able to be surrounded by family in the end, we miss her dearly.
In March, my husband Rich (you know him as Flyaway's designer, machinist, and cofounder) was diagnosed with stage IV cancer that is sadly very aggressive. Right now, my time, energy, and focus is with him as we navigate this incredibly difficult and uncertain future. For now, we are taking things one day at a time and holding on to hope that treatment slows the disease enough to have more time together.
Since I firmly believe family always comes first, I’ve made the decision to officially take a break from Flyaway for the foreseeable future.
I appreciate the grace and compassion shown by those I have already been in contact with. I know my responses were slow compared to normal and possibly left unanswered. It has been difficult to juggle everything coming at me without dropping a few balls along the way.
To everyone who has supported Flyaway over the years, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kindness, encouragement, and friendship have meant the world to Rich and I. I look forward to hopefully returning to Flyaway when the time is right.
