One thing we hear all the time:

“Do you have dairy-free options?”
“What about sugar-free?”
“Are any flavors free from artificial dyes?”

The answer is YES! 🤙 One of the things we’ve learned through friendships and community is that not everyone experiences food the same way ❗️

We have a dear friend who is very intentional about avoiding artificial dyes. Through conversations with her, we realized that something as simple as grabbing a fun summer treat isn’t always simple for everyone.

That got us thinking…

What if we could create options that help more people feel included?

At Olu Olu, we want every person who walks up to the truck to feel seen, valued, and welcomed. That’s why we’ve intentionally added options like:

The real reason I started Olu Olu 🍧

When our family moved from Maui to Kansas City, we knew we’d miss our Ohana, the beaches, the sunshine, and the laid-back island lifestyle. But what we didn’t expect was just how much we’d miss the little things.

Our son had spent his whole life in Hawaii. He never seemed to notice the cold from a cup of shave ice, but after moving to the Midwest, he definitely noticed the cold! One of the things he missed most was authentic Hawaiian shave ice and enjoying a taste of home.

As we settled into life on the mainland, we found ourselves missing Hawaii more and more—the people, the culture, the feeling of aloha, and all the memories that came with it.

That’s when the idea for Olu Olu was born.

What started as a way to bring a little piece of Hawaii back into our own lives became an opportunity to share it with others. Every shave ice we serve is a reminder of home, family, and the joy found in simple moments together.

Whether you’ve lived in Hawaii, visited the islands, or simply love trying something new, we hope every cup brings joy to your heart and a little aloha to your day.
