Here's the inside scoop. On bullets. L. to R. are Swift Scirocco featuring extra thick, pure copper jacket bonded to lead core. The black polycarbonate tip does not make this a Ballistic Tip. That's a brand name of a Nosler bullet.
Next is Nosler Partition with gilding metal jacket, lead core with shank locked in behind internal wall.
3rd is Swift A-Frame with pure copper jacket also bonded to pure lead core plus a cross section of copper to contain the shank lead for deep pe*******on.
4th is original Barnes X, all copper alloy with hollow nose cavity. The cavity is actually deeper than this. We just didn't section it quite perfectly. Fluids under intense pressure enter this hollow and open four petals so instantly and completely that a cherry tomato is sufficient mass to open such bullets.
5th is Berger VLD hollow point with lead core inside gilding metal jacket. This hollow point is said to collapse on itself on impact, accordion back to the lead, and expand or break up dramatically. Beside it is another from which the lead core has fallen, demonstrating why how these cup-core bullets often break apart on impact.
The red tip bullet is a Hornady Interbond, thick tapering jacket bonded to the lead core. Again, the plastic tip does not make this a Ballistic Tip!
Finally, we show a Speer Grand Slam with pure lead in the nose and hardened lead in the shank behind an internal ledge of jacket material to help hold lead and jacket together.
