KGShultz Web Solutions I am a Virtual Assistant whose job, passion and energy are about helping you make every hour of your workday the most productive it can be. Twenty-four hours.

That’s the amount of time each and everyone one of us has to work within, every day. I know you already knew that, but here’s a question you may not have the answer to yet: What do you do when you need to get more done in a day than you have time for? Your answer: Me! Yup, the answer is that simple. I am a Virtual Assistant (VA) whose job, passion and energy are about helping you make every hour o

f your workday the most productive it can be. In a nutshell: I take things off your plate so that you have more time to do the work that you love. I can do the behind the scenes work that is important to be done, but not important to be done by you. That way, you can have more time to grow your business in all of the ways that make your company unique. I started my work as a VA when my mother, a multi-media artist, wanted to start a business selling prints of her artwork. At first I just helped here and there when she had questions, but eventually I took over the business side of things as my full time job, moved the site to a WordPress website, and set about developing a marketing strategy. As I worked on the business, I learned that working behind the scenes was what I liked best. I found I was more than happy to not be the face of the company, but to do the grunt work of improving the website, editing and posting blog posts, setting up and running the social media accounts, maintaining the Etsy store and sending out newsletters. The more I worked on developing my mom’s business, the more I saw opportunities for me to the use the same techniques to help other people build their own businesses. Eventually I realized that I really enjoy doing the behind the scenes work of setting up businesses and helping them run smoothly, and I should start my own business doing just that!

I don't think I can overstate this enough: if you're going to be in business for yourself, you're going to need a support system. Having friends and family that believe in you and support you is a fantastic start, but sometimes it's not enough. You need to be able to tap into a support group of people who are doing what you're doing. [ 587 more words. ]

Time to Get Rid of Those Modified Social Media Icons Have you ever actually read the guidelines from Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, etc about how you're supposed to use their logos? No? Well, I hadn't either until I was building my own website and was looking into some modified social media icons. Then, I discovered that all of these companies have very strict policies on what you can, and more importantly can't, do with their logos. [ 627 more words. ]

5 Reasons Why You Need A (Even if you're a with local customers and you don't think you do.)

5 Reasons Why You Need A Website Sometimes, as a small business owner, it can be difficult to see why you need a website. For some people, they see it as just another thing they have to maintain. A lot of small business owners figure that their business lends itself mostly to word of mouth advertising. Or maybe they are a local business and don't need to advertise nationally. Clickable Phone Numbers for WordPress Sites Are Imperative As I said before when talking about the importance of Responsive Design, over 60% of web traffic is now done on mobile devices. So your website better play nicely with phones. Playing nicely with phones doesn't just mean that it looks good (though, of course, that's always important). It also means that… [ 327 more words. ]

To Tab, or Not to Tab? That is the Question. I was recently working on a site rebuild for a client, and she wanted to rein in the number of pages on her old site. There were tons of drop down menus and the number of pages was starting to spiral out of control. That made a ton of sense. If there is one thing you don't want to do, it's overwhelm your customers with too many pages and drop down menus in the navigation. [ 603 more words. ]

Everything in life requires baby steps. What are you taking?

Business baby steps: you can do it! This weekend while I was finishing painting the last set of storm windows on my house I was thinking about how pretty much everything in life, and especially growing a business, requires taking baby steps. My husband and I have been repainting the outside of our house by ourselves, and it's not exactly a small house. [ 481 more words. ]
