Good morning y'all. Since we got beneficial rain last month I have noticed that the nectar flow has not disappointed us for the colonies we have. This upcoming weekend is May 16th and it is our intention to pull all the spring honey and extract it. Immediately afterwards we will place the honey supers back on the colonies allowing the bees more room to store the summer honey.
I am hoping to have the honey stand set up on the last weekend of the month weather permitting. I will keep everybody in the loop on that. Honey sales are robust at La India Bonita which is located on 518 in League City Texas next to the railroad tracks and also you can get our great honey at the same price as the stand at The kolache bakery on 518 across from Shipley's.
As a reminder, "all of the proceeds" from the sales of the honey at The kolache bakery will go to support local school supply backpack fund at my body and soul ministry. They help countless families in the San Leon and Dickinson and League City areas that are struggling to make ends meet and we will help provide necessary school supplies. Thank you for all your support.

Good afternoon and happy Sunday everyone. Several years ago someone asked me if we ever assisted with the educational needs of "local children". They were not upset when I told them no I don't and I advised them that I would look into it. Ever since then I have been wanting to expand the scope of our charity work and sure enough we have a plan that is up and running!!
Here is what's going on. Edukos honey will be donating all of our proceeds that come from the honey sales made at "The kolache bakery" located at 908 East main Street in League City Texas to the backpacks for children's programs put on by My body and soul ministry. The packs come from a supplier pre-loaded with all of the nessessary school supplies. This is a very cost effective way to handle hundreds of backpacks. This fundraiser will continue through the middle of July. If you wish to make a financial donation I would gladly give you a tax deduction receipt. Edukos is a 501c3.
The money generated will be given to "My body and soul" which is a local ministry that helps those who are in desperate need of help. My understanding is that the clients are mostly single moms and folk that need a "hand up." MBS is located behind Bay harbor Church here in League City and is open 3 days a week and is always accepting donations.
As for the honey stand, well, I plan to be open at or near the end of May. If you need some honey before then please let me know and I will make sure you are covered. Thank you all so very much for all you do for us to do for others.

This is but of a handful of the children that you and I will be feeding through the month of May. Thank you all so very much.
Please allow me to remind you that if you we're not able to come by the honey stand today, you can still get great local honey at the same price from The kolache bakery located off of 518 / main Street in League City , La India Bonita taqueria next to the railroad tracks in League City or artistic sign which is next to esteban's.
Thank you so much, Jay

Good morning y'all. I made sure to bring some of the larger jugs for those of you who are making bread or Mead or whatever calls for larger qualities at a better price. Right now I still have a 6 lb two 5 lb and four 3 lb jokes left in the bulk jugs. It's the "Yellow cap" honey which indicates it was extracted in July. The two jars containing cut comb honey have been sold however I do still have two jars of pecans that are soaked in honey left.
Are my half pound, 1 lb and 1 1/2 pound bears all of which are moving at a steady pace. Cinnamon cream honey is dwindling. I always find it fascinating when someone says that they're not that much into cinnamon but they'll take two jars. Lol

Good day everyone. It seems that the weather is going to cooperate and allow us the opportunity to open the honey stand tomorrow the 25th of April. I will be in my normal spot right there at the corners of FM 518 and South shore and that's in the parking lot of Bay harbor United Methodist Church. I should be set up about 8:00 and will be open until 3:00 or 3:30.

I will be sure to have our cinnamon creamed / soft set honey in the jar as well as runny honey. I need to dig through my warming cabinet and see how many jars of pecans soaked in honey I have. Seems to me I have three or four left. Remember that all our proceeds go to help children overseas in Rwanda as well as our food program for the children in ruhango which is a very remote village in Rwanda.

Starting this August, Edukos honey will be selling special bottles of our honey, both runny and creamed and all of the proceeds from those sales will go directly to the Children's school backpack program ". That is the local program that ensures that our local children in need of school supplies will start off the new year right. If you or anyone you know wishes to help contribute to the backpack fund just let us know when you make your regular honey purchase and any and all donations will be set aside. I am making a personal pledge myself for $600. Please join me in the fight to stamp out illiteracy. Thank you and I'll see you tomorrow.

I take 3 pounds of our honey and add 45 cloves that I have ground in a dedicated coffee grinder and slowly stir it periodically as it is warmed to 100°f. After 5-6 hours I strain the honey through a super fine screen (a metal coffee basket) to get the particles out. This is a home remedy that was shared with me by Mr. Guzman is the owner of La India Bonita.
This honey is used to help ease the pain associated with a sore throat.

Happy Palm Sunday everyone. Ellie Mae (seen in the background) and I just got back from an afternoon of setting up a small 10 colony out yard. The bees in this yard will be allowed to grow all year and then after I re-queen them next spring they will then produce a substantial honey crop if we're fortunate. I currently have 10 colonies on the adjacent property too. I need to add a few more cinder blocks to get everything up off the ground and support the middle of the five hives to the right but I have been assured by the landowner that this is the one spot that did not flood during Harvey.

Good evening everyone. We had a little mix up today at the honey stand. Someone accidentally got our sample jar of the cinnamon creamed honey. There's nothing wrong with that jar because everyone always uses a clean wooden sample spoon and no one, absolutely no one double dips. If you by chance are the nice couple that accidentally received the sample jar please contact me. I will gladly replace that jar and give you a second jar for the inconvenience of the mix-up.
Secondly, today's sales generated enough revenue to provide meals for our school children in Rwanda for the entire month of April. I cannot thank y'all enough for coming through once again and allowing us to help these children. When I refer to us it is both sides of the table at the honey stand that make this possible. As the back of my teeth shirts say, "saving the world through education". May each and every one of y'all have a good holy week. Thank you, Good night

Good morning everyone and a happy Saturday. I will be opening up the honey stand around 8:00 this morning at the corner of FM 518 and South shore in front of Bay harbor United Methodist Church. I will have 1/2 pound, 1 pound and 1 1/2 pound bottles this morning plus our cinnamon creamed honey. I do not have any big jugs of Honey at this time but I do anticipate having some in the near future. The simple truth is I have been in the out yards and have not had a chance to get any decrystallized from the 5 gallon buckets I store it in.

This is a swarm of feral bees moving into our swarm trap/ bait hive. #2 this year.

03/23/2026

Back in 2021 I set out a small bowl of sugar water to see how many bees it would attract in this area of League City. Because the first afternoon there were a handful of bees and they went home and told all their sisters because the next day there were hundreds if not thousands all day long. I set out to see if I could catch what's called a feral swarm and sure enough I was blessed within a week or two with my very first colony of bees since I was a kid. 5 years later I have between 28 and 32 colonies that I maintain all from that one feral swarm.
This little video clip is today and I still continue to use swarm traps and I have hived one colony that moved into the trap and then I re-baited it after moving it to the other side of the yard to see if lightning can strike twice. For the past two days scout bees have been coming and going suggesting that they are preparing to move a swarm in.
So what will we do with these bees? It is my intention to grow them and keep them healthy like all my other colonies in any honey that we collect will be sold and the proceeds from that will go to help support local needy children with school supplies in the fall of 26.
I will have the honey stand open this Saturday coming at our usual location in front of Bay harbor United Methodist Church at the corners of FM 518 and South shore. I will put out an update about the honey stand set up Saturday closer to the end of the week. Once again I thank you all for the support over the years and we will continue to help those who truly can't help themselves, at this time.
