Hi, this is Keira, aka the Baker. I did not mean to stress you all out with my closed for now post. But we are indeed closed for the next few weeks. So let's discuss why.
Jeanne, aka Mom, aka our founder and Candy maker, is pretty much retired. If it isn't a turtle or fudge she isn't making it. And I don't blame her one bit. We started the business and a year later she developed breast cancer. Twice. I'm so proud of her for that. It did come with complications though, that really limits her stamina and endurance so the candy making falls to me.
My friend Carrie, our sweet talker, has 2 kids 5 and under. It is a daily battle to keep clothes on the three-nager and get the preschooler to class. She also works overnights, full time, doing very valuable work for the organ donation system. ( ) So she hasn't had any time to do the fun posts about your favorite movies, candy and wine combos, etc.
And then there's me. I mentioned to my doctor that it feels like my bones are going to snap in half from the tension everywhere. The next thing I know I have lab tests showing I am very positive for Rheumatoid Arthritis. So now we move into specialized medicine and get a treatment plan to prevent further deterioration. Which takes time.
This is why candy is taking a back seat, a back burner, a break. We will be back. Just not tomorrow.
