✨ Reiki & the Nervous System

Sometimes healing doesn’t begin with doing more.

Sometimes it begins when the body finally feels safe enough to do less.

When we’re constantly stressed, overwhelmed, or running on empty, the nervous system can spend a lot of time in a state of heightened alert. Even when we want to relax, the body may have a hard time getting the message.

This is one of the reasons I love Reiki. 💜

A Reiki session creates intentional space for stillness, rest, and connection. As the body begins to settle, many people experience a sense of deep relaxation, slower breathing, emotional softening, or simply the feeling that they can finally exhale.

Reiki isn’t about forcing your nervous system to calm down.

It’s about creating the conditions where your body may begin to recognize:

🌿 I can soften here.
🌿 I can rest here.
🌿 I am allowed to receive.

And from that place of greater regulation, we give the body something incredibly valuable:

space to restore.

✨ Reiki is not a replacement for medical or mental health care, but it can be a beautiful complementary practice for supporting relaxation, connection, and whole-person well-being.

💜 Saturday Distance Reiki sessions are now available.
Message me if you’d like to learn more or reserve a session.

🌿 The Ayurvedic Daily Clock

Have you ever noticed that your energy, appetite, focus, and even sleepiness seem to shift depending on the time of day?

Ayurveda noticed that too… thousands of years ago.

The Ayurvedic Daily Clock teaches that the qualities of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha naturally rise and fall throughout each 24-hour cycle.

🌿 6–10 AM | Kapha
Slow, steady, grounded energy. A beautiful time for movement and gently waking the body.

🔥 10 AM–2 PM | Pitta
Our strongest fire of the day. Traditionally, this is considered an ideal time for the largest meal, when digestion is naturally strongest.

🌬 2–6 PM | Vata
Light, creative, mobile energy. Often a wonderful window for ideas, communication, and creative work.

🌿 6–10 PM | Kapha
The body begins slowing again, inviting us toward quieter activities, connection, and preparation for sleep.

🔥 10 PM–2 AM | Pitta
Rather than fueling productivity, this internal fire supports the body’s nighttime processing and restoration.

🌬 2–6 AM | Vata
A lighter, quieter period traditionally associated with waking, reflection, meditation, and spiritual practice.

The point isn’t to organize your entire life around a clock.

It’s to begin noticing your own rhythms.

When are you naturally hungry?
When does your mind feel sharpest?
When does your energy dip?
When does your body begin asking for rest?

Ayurveda reminds us that we aren’t separate from nature’s rhythms. We are part of them.

✨ Sometimes wellness isn’t about doing more. It’s about learning when to do what already supports us.

This is the beginning of something new for The Wild Bodhi: a monthly companion for living a little closer to the seasons, noticing what is growing and changing around us, and remembering that our own rhythms belong to nature, too.

Pour something warm. Find a cozy spot. Wander through it slowly. Write in the margins. Try a recipe. Learn an herb. Look up at the moon. Take whatever speaks to you and leave the rest.

🌿 Lessons from the Garden | The Night Visitor

For days, I knew something was eating my garden.

Leaves were disappearing from the fig.
The amaranth was getting chewed.
I searched the plants during the day, looking for caterpillars or anything else that might explain it.

Nothing.

Then last night, I went outside after dark.

And there he was.

A grasshopper roughly the size of a small aircraft, sitting directly in the evidence. 😂

Three to four inches long and apparently operating an all-you-can-eat buffet from my garden.

Caught. Red. Handed.

And I had a decision to make.

I love living things. I don’t particularly enjoy killing anything. Most of the time, I’m perfectly happy sharing the garden. The bees can have the flowers. The birds can steal a berry. The dragonflies can move in permanently.

But sharing and allowing something to destroy what you’ve spent months nurturing are not the same thing.

And there was the lesson.

Compassion does not require the absence of boundaries.

We can be gentle and still say, enough.

We can care deeply and still protect what we’ve grown.

We can understand that another living thing is simply trying to meet its own needs while recognizing that its needs do not automatically outweigh ours.

Sometimes boundaries feel uncomfortable precisely because we are compassionate.

We second-guess ourselves.

Maybe I should give a little more.
Maybe I can tolerate it.
Maybe it isn’t that bad.

Meanwhile…

the damn grasshopper is eating the fig tree. 😂

There comes a point when tending the garden means protecting it, too.

Not every boundary is punishment.

Sometimes a boundary is simply a fence around something you’ve worked very hard to grow.

🌿 Gentle Reminder

Being kind does not mean allowing everything access to you.

You are allowed to protect your time.
Your energy.
Your peace.
The things you’ve spent years cultivating.

Some things can be loved from outside the garden gate.

And occasionally…

some giant grasshopper gets caught at the scene of the crime. 😂🌿

🌿 Ayurvedic Daily Rituals

Ayurveda teaches that wellness isn’t only shaped by what we do when something feels wrong.

It’s shaped by the small things we return to every day.

This is the heart of Dinacharya, the Ayurvedic practice of creating a daily rhythm that supports the body, mind, and spirit.

That rhythm might include simple practices like:

🌅 Waking and sleeping at consistent times
👅 Tongue scraping and morning oral care
💧 Beginning the day with warm water
🌿 Taking a few quiet moments before the day begins
🧘 Gentle movement, breathwork, or meditation
🥣 Eating nourishing meals at regular times
🚶 Spending time outside and moving with the natural rhythms of the day
🌙 Creating an evening routine that allows the nervous system to settle before sleep

But Dinacharya isn’t meant to become another impossible wellness checklist.

You don’t need to wake at 4 AM, perform twelve rituals, drink something mysterious from a copper cup, and achieve enlightenment before breakfast. 😂

Start small.

Choose one or two practices that genuinely support you. Let them become familiar. Then build from there.

Because Ayurveda isn’t asking us to perfect our days.

It’s inviting us to create rhythms that make it easier to return to ourselves.

🌿 Small rituals, practiced consistently, can become powerful medicine.

Which daily ritual helps you feel most grounded?

⛈️ The Wild Bodhi Oracle | Card VIII: The Storm

Some storms arrive without warning.

They shake the branches, scatter the leaves, and change landscapes we thought would always remain the same.

And sometimes, we mistake resilience for remaining untouched by it all.

But the tree knows better.

Its branches move with the wind. It bends beneath the rain. It may lose leaves, or even limbs, along the way.

Still, beneath the surface…

the roots hold.

✨ Medicine: Deep Roots

Being deeply rooted does not mean life cannot shake you.

You are allowed to be afraid.
You are allowed to feel overwhelmed.
You are allowed to bend, reach for help, and emerge from a difficult season changed.

None of that means you have lost yourself.

Sometimes storms are simply storms. We don’t have to romanticize them or turn every hardship into a lesson.

But when the clouds finally begin to part, we can look gently at what remains.

What held us?

What mattered?

What roots carried us through?

And if the landscape looks different now, perhaps we don’t need to rebuild everything exactly as it was.

You do not have to become who you were before the storm.

You are allowed to grow from where you stand now.

🌿 The Storm does not ask you to be unshaken.

It asks you to remember where you are rooted.

She’s not finished yet—but she’s begun. 🥹🌿

Today we brought The Wild Bodhi’s first permanent little space to life at Sugarloaf Creek Trading - Flea Market in Bonnerdale.

There are still teas and jams to bring in, more crystals waiting to find their place, and a grid wall that apparently decided to miss opening day. 😂 But this little apothecary will grow and evolve over time—just like everything at The Wild Bodhi.

For today, we’re standing here tired, grateful, and a little emotional because the vision is no longer living only in our heads. It has walls. It has shelves. It has a home. 🫶🏻

This is only the beginning! ✨

Today’s the day. 🥹🌿

The Wild Bodhi is stepping into something new—and today, we begin bringing our little apothecary space to life.

We’ll share a tiny peek later. For now… the kettle is on, the car is packed, and the next chapter is waiting. ✨
