I’m so excited!!! Today is September 2nd and I’m kicking off a huge Cuddle Bear Drive! So many of you know that I’ve been with Usborne Books and More for 5 years now and I love being able to spread literacy and help parents find the perfect books for their kiddos!! One of the things I truly love about this business is being able to gift books to hospitals or other charitable organizations! Every September I run a Cuddle Bear drive to benefit an organization. Last year I chose the Ronald McDonald house of KC and the year before the Blue Springs PD. This year I’ve chosen to donate sets to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City!!! Our Cuddle Bear sets are a great comfort to a kiddo who might be battling something scary or new in their life. Our Cuddle Bear plush is super soft and cuddly while the book offers soothing words and focuses on cuddles, snuggles and Cheer -up hugs! In talking with someone at Children’s Mercy they said their need for this is great as they are seeing a rise in number of patients daily. They are now not able to “share” books among patients due to Covid so donating these sets so a kid will have their own book and plush will mean so much!!! My goal for this drive is to raise enough to gift them 50 sets! I know with your help we can do it!!! Our national convention was canceled due to COVID-19. I’m devastated, but excited for the virtual convention we’re having instead! I’ll miss the fun photo ops and props!

Convention may be canceled, but helping families get quality books into their homes is NOT! Our team has been busy and I’m grateful for that!

Friends! I'm so excited to kick off a brand-new project this month for Benton House in Blue Springs, MO!

A fellow book lady shared recently about the Book Drive she did for a local nursing facility in her area (see pictures in graphic below!)- and I knew I *had* to do something like it! We have been enjoying visiting with residents at Benton House during our Music with Mar class and passing out candy at Halloween and Valentines in February. 🎨💦🥰

From now until April 20th, I am collecting donations that will be used to purchase Magic Painting books for Benton House! Benton House is home to 60 residents, so my goal is to be able to donate at least 60 books!

Magic Painting books are regularly $9.99, but Usborne Books & More will match donations by 50%!

The gift of this business was offered to me in 2016. JD and I talked about me staying home with our son Aiden and being a stay at home mom. While I loved being home with our son I began to feel very alone! I found myself not really having anything for me! I needed an outlet other than just being mommy! UBAM was the answer to my prayers!!

I hosted a party to earn free books because I knew how important reading was and I grew up with a passion for it. I started looking closer at joining as a consultant, and decided I had nothing to lose and just went for it. I was right! There are no sales minimums for consultants, no purchase requirements, no inventory to keep, and the only required cost after the kit doesn't kick in until 7 months after you join - $8/month for your website!

My appreciation for our books while we're stuck at home is stronger than ever. We may not be doing a lot of structured activities that require planning and prep (not my thing 😬) but we are READING! More than we ever have. All because we have books - lots of them - that are like magnets to my kids.

And then there's the business - oh how grateful I am to continue working at home like I have been all along. PRAISE GOD that our company can continue operating and shipping the books we recommend to families across the country who are stuck inside like us. That while in isolation, I can meet new friends in book parties and spend my nights socializing with these new friends over the love of books.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 💞

Breast cancer has affected us all personally or through someone we love.
This month I am selling Cards for a Cause boxes with $13 per box going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.

This foundation focuses on prevention and early detection.

My goal is to sell 20 boxes, raising $260!!! A group of my Uzzie Buddies are doing this with me! Let’s see how much we can raise!

To all of my friends that are currently fighting, keep up the good fight, we love you!! ♥️♥️ here’s to no more lives lost!

I will be posting ideas throughout the month on what you can do with our cards! They are so beautiful! For $30 you get 30 handcrafted, beautiful cards! That's $1 a card, what a deal!!

Book Lovers!! I’m using my powers for good this week, & raising money to donate hopefully 200 Cuddle Bear sets to Blue Springs Police Department!! The police department often encounters situations with children who are scared and uneasy. Our goal with this Cuddle Bear drive is to provide a stockpile of bears & books for the officers to have on hand for any child who may be scared or in need of comfort. We want to be able to give them each a bear to keep, hug, & help them feel a little bit safer.

I’m happy to say we are up to2️⃣3️⃣ sets but still have a ways to go!!

As an added bonus, a portion of the sale from all Cuddle Bears goes to the Scott Carter Foundation for pediatric cancer research!
