Accuracy is our main goal here at VRM Customs.
Before that CNC turns on, I spend a lot of time researching, testing, measuring and designing the original championship. The goal here at VRM: Make the most accurate belts at this scale.
The NWA World's Heavyweight Championship I'm working on next is a perfect example.
The original "Ten Pounds of Gold" wasn't exactly the same from 1973 to 1986. It went through several documented configurations. The leather changed. The arrangement of the flag plates changed. The globe was replaced. Lettering and colors changed. Black painted areas were later replaced with black onyx. And years of being carried around the world caused damage, missing pieces and wear.
So simply finding a clean picture of an NWA belt and copying it isn't enough.
It's the small things I notice, too. For example, the sides on the bottom half of the original center plate don't come straight down parallel. They're rounded. That's a small detail, but I want to preserve that originality.
I'm sure I'll continue finding ways to improve these designs. When I learn something new or find a better historical reference, the next version gets better.
That's our mission behind VRM Customs.
I'm not trying to make a belt that's better than somebody else's.
I'm trying to make the next VRM belt more accurate than the last VRM belt.
And eventually, I want these to be the most faithful representations of these historic championships that I can possibly produce at this scale.
Real belts. Just smaller.
