Not how I pictured this hunt ending, but a decision I'd make again.
This buck had been poorly hit by another hunter opening morning and we had glassed him up struggling more than once over the past several days — never on ground we could legally hunt.
Last night he came into water, hurting and trying to drink, I made the decision to end his suffering and fill my Utah tag on him.
Bowhunting isn't always pretty. The reality is that if you do it long enough, there's a good chance you'll make a bad shot on an animal. If that's happened to you, then you know it's one of the worst feelings you can experience.
I'm grateful for the meat and grateful for the unique experience bowhunting provides.
Thank you to Sean Vogel at Spring Creek muleys for such a fun hunt with a great group of guys!
