Our plan is to hand out these donations to our q***r community and allies at Milwaukie Pride for FREE! We've got a book for everyone. Purchase any of these picks or your favorite q***r read online or instore and just let us know in the notes or in person that this is a donation to Milwaukie Pride.

Stop by and see us on Saturday, July 25 at Scott Park (Ledding Library) from 10:30-2:30pm and pick up a new read to enjoy for yourself!

We're so excited to share that this year is our FIRST EVER Summer Reading Program at Spoke & Word Books!

Come by the shop to pickup your BINGO sheets for adults and kids, as well as a template to design your own bookmark!

All readers who earn a BINGO will receive a special edition bookmark (hand drawn by our buyer, Gere, and GORGEOUS!), as well as a raffle ticket for some additional prizes.

The winner(s) of the bookmark contest will have their design printed and used in the bookshop, as well an additional prize!

Entries for BINGO and the bookmark design contest are due August 31st, so you have plenty of time to enjoy these activities throughout the summer.

Being bored is BORING- come by the bookshop and get set with some activities that'll spice up your summer

Bonnie and Cierra both coincidentally wore other bookstores’ shirts to work today!

Living in Portland is like living in a candy shop for book lovers. And as booksellers we know how hard it is to run a bookshop, so we roll extra hard for our neighboring shops that inspire us.

We have a new addition to our Classics Book Club- join us on 6/30 to discuss Aura by Carlos Fuentes!

Our bookclubs are a great way to connect with other readers and discuss our latest reads. Moderated by a Spoke & Word Books community member, we'll discuss the book we're reading and share recommendations from other books we've been loving lately.

Come with friends or come and make some new ones! We are a friendly group that loves to welcome new faces.

We made it to the Best of Portland Bookstores Finalists again!!! Thanks to YOU.

In 2025 our flabbers were gasted when we WON 2nd Best of Portland for Bookstores, behind Powell's. Truly it was insane and not something that we anticipated was even possible. We truly are three humans in a trench coat and then two lovely lovely part-time booksellers. We are honored to be back in the top five finalists.

We would be honored to receive your vote, but honestly, we are just thrilled to be here again. This is much more than a little contest, its a huge way our audience gets bigger, we get to do more cooler things, and provide a home away from home for readers all over the area.
