Legitowels is created by Advaith Sethuraman, a high school student from Fremont, California. He is currently taking collegiate courses at Stanford University. The State of California is experiencing extreme to exceptional drought with a drop in rainfall for the fourth consecutive year. Although many of us seem to continue to use water normally, Governor Brown has directed the Water Control board t
o reduce water consumption by 25 percent. The Governor says, "This historic drought demands unprecedented action." The drought is in the process of destroying California's economy. The drought has left half a million acres of farmland uncultivated, and many workers displaced. Let us ask ourselves how we could make a difference. Advaith did some research and found out that a typical household clothes washer uses around 13 gallons of water per wash. He decided to focus on reducing the water consumption for washing without compromising the quality of life. Advaith started experimenting with thinner towels to reduce water consumption. These towels dry very fast, last longer, and don't gather bacteria and musty odors. Introducing Legitowels, a towel that functions like a plush towel, but requires less water to wash. It dries faster, takes up less space, uses less energy, and requires washing less often. This is a simple and elegant solution to a complicated problem. You can wash more Legitowels per load, maximizing water usage and reducing the total number of washer loads. Truly, these are the towels of the future. So what are the next steps here?
