🍂🌿 Fall is a great time to divide your perennials! 🌿🍂

As the weather cools down, many perennials are ready for a little garden refresh. Dividing established plants can help reduce overcrowding, encourage healthy new growth, and give you MORE plants to spread around your landscape—or share with a friend! 💚
Some great perennials to divide in the fall include:

🌱 Allium
🌱 Astilbe
🌱 Black-Eyed Susan
🌱 Blanket Flower
🌱 Coralbells
🌱 Ferns
🌱 Goldenrod (Solidago)
🌱 Hosta
🌱 Ligularia
🌱 Catmint
🌱 Oriental Poppy
🌱 Peony
🌱 Phlox
🌱 Salvia
🌱 Shasta Daisy
🌱 Siberian Iris
🌱 Veronica

💡 A few fall dividing tips:
• Try to divide plants 4–6 weeks before the ground freezes so the roots have time to settle in.
• Water plants well before digging and again after replanting.
• Keep newly divided plants consistently watered until the ground freezes.
• A little mulch after the ground begins to cool can help protect those newly established roots.

And remember—you don't have to divide every perennial every year! If it's blooming well, looks healthy, and hasn't become overcrowded, it's perfectly fine to leave it alone. 🌿

Have a perennial you're wondering about? Stop by The Nursery at Fensel's and ask us! We're always happy to help you figure out what to divide, what to leave alone, and where to plant those new divisions.

🌱 Growing Greener at Fensel’s! 🌱

We believe sustainability doesn’t have to mean making huge changes overnight. Sometimes it’s simply about using what we already have, reusing what we can, wasting a little less, and making thoughtful choices along the way. 💚

We’ve been looking at practical ways to do just that here at Fensel’s:
♻️ Reusing clean floral vases
🪴 Giving nursery pots another growing season
🌱 Propagating more of our own plants right here
🌻 Offering bulk seeds so you can buy only what you need
📦 Reusing clean boxes that our friends at Jamboree Foods save for us
🤝 Supporting local makers, growers, and businesses whenever we can
And we’re just getting started!

We’d love to learn from YOU, too. 💡
🏡 What are you doing at home to be more sustainable?
🏢 Business owners—what are you doing at your business?
♻️ Do you reuse, refill, compost, grow your own, collect rainwater, reduce packaging, repurpose things, shop locally—or have another great idea?

Share your ideas in the comments! 👇 We’d love to hear what’s working for you—and you might inspire something new at Fensel’s, too!

Small changes add up, especially when a whole community makes them together. 🌎💚
Growing Greener at Fensel’s
