LITERARY ILLUMINATION: F. Scott Fitzgerald. Born 1896, died 1940. Best known for writing "The Great Gatsby." Fitzgerald was a novelist and wrote numerous short stories, many of which were published in The Saturday Evening Post. The book "The Great Gatsby" had favorable reviews but did not sell many copies. Later critics hailed it as the Great American novel. Fitzgerald wrote other novels, including "Tender Is The Night," following his wife being placed in a mental institution for schizophrenia. Did you know he also wrote "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"? He moved to Hollywood and tried his hand at movie script writing but was unsuccessful. Fitzgerald struggled many years with alcoholism but finally attained sobriety. He died at the age of 44 of a heart attack, but his book "The Great Gatsby" is still read today and regarded as a great literary work.

BOOK SPOTLIGHT ✨️

My most recent 5 star delivered by one of my (caitlin) all time favorite authors.

"This was amazing!
Of course it was , it's Emily Henry. I trust her fully with my literary experience.
I think she outdid herself in the writing department in this one. Every line was intentional, impactful, beautiful.
She told this story exactly how it should have been told. I felt like I was reading about real people and real headlines that happened. Often found myself reaching for Google to research these people further before remembering that they are not real.
My opinion is that this is 70% story/plot and 30% romance so if you're expecting a RomCom this is not it.
Instead she transports you to place, to a time, to a feeling through memories and setting. It is perfect. "

LITERARY ILLUMINATION:
Ariel Lawhon is a historical fictional novelist. One of her works is, "The Frozen River", which focuses on the 1789 trial of Judge Joseph North and the murder of Joshua Burgess. The heroine in the novel is Martha Ballard. Martha was born in 1735 and was a midwife, healer, and fighter for justice involving women. She was one of the rare women who could read and write in her time. Martha kept a diary, which was not an ordinary thing in the 1700's. The diary survived all these years and has given insight into Ballard's life. Martha passed on her fortitude and desire to heal as shown by her great niece, Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross, and her great great granddaughter, Mary Hobart, one of the first female physicians. Lawhon has written an extraordinary story, with elements of truth, that
