The wait. The anticipation. The hope we place in a small seed or bulb 🌼 after 3 years of growing, my peonies are in full bloom!!!! We've been so busy the past 2 weekends preparing the garden beds that I almost forgot to check on these babies. Stay tuned because the stand will be open with limited availability soon! I even timed everything properly so we have some beautiful filler to accompany the peonies 🥰

Did you know that I thrift 99% of the jars I use for flower bouquets? The thrift stores are filled with them every time I visit, so it just makes sense to help out Mother Earth and reuse what is already available! It also helps keep my costs down so I can pass on amazing deals to you 😁 I tend to look for smaller vases, because that is what moves the fastest. But I'm curious- as I work to rebuild my jar collection- what is your preference? Do you like smaller bouquets in pint size mason jars, or would you like a beautiful big centerpiece show stopper?

Wintertime brings a season of quiet contemplation for me. It is a time to slow down, hear the quiet and just recharge. I'll admit that as much as I love flower season- summer is very busy for me!!! The added outdoor chores really pile on. So I appreciate the slowness that comes with winter. Each season brings something unique into our lives. With Spring on the horizon, I am beginning to ease into garden planning, seed starting, and unearthing my mess of a garage so I have space to work!

I'm slowly working through my TBR pile of books because I don't have as much time to dedicate to reading in the summer! I just read a novel about living with dementia-from the perspective of the daughter- and what it means to not only create memories but also watch those slip away. The underlying takeaway-love shows up and love remembers. What have you been reading?

The evolution of Simple Acre Creations...
It's been through many iterations, but I'm most excited for what is to come. I plan to add some whimsy this year. To truly put my personal touch on this little slice of the roadside 🥰 The stand will remain, and it will be my primary place to offer flowers and craft kits. But I'm hoping it will become your favorite little stop on the weekends, a place you need to check out be a part of. Step 1 is to give it some COLOR, white is just too drab for a flower stand!!!

What does this little patch mean to me? It means I get to carve out time to dig in the dirt with my little watching close by! Flowers give us an opportunity to add a little color into our life. Are you team pinks and purples or oranges and reds?

Personally, I gravitate towards purples and pinks. As the first blooms of lilacs peak out in the spring it's hard not to feel a jolt of energy and creativity. Watching the 2 colors intertwine it reminds me of some of the most beautifully magical sunsets washing over the sky.

Now is the best time to start joyspotting! Life is hard, the world is messy. But my small act at reclaiming my happiness towards life is to work on Joyspotting.

So look for joy in your surroundings and your interactions with those in your life. Turn to those activities you love, start interacting with people who connect with you, continue forward towards the things that feel like the sun ☀️!

I once read that emotions have feedback loops: when we feel a burst of joy, it makes us more attentive to joy in our surroundings and more likely to engage in behaviors that help us find more joy. In practice, it's not always easy. But it's always worth it!n!
