Columbia River spring Chinook fishing open Friday-Monday of Memorial Day Weekend!

Fishery managers from Oregon and Washington added several days of recreational spring Chinook fishing on the mainstem Columbia River during a joint state hearing today.

With these additional days, and the action taken last week, the Columbia River will be open for spring Chinook for the entire upcoming Memorial Day weekend (from Friday through Monday, May 22-25, 2026) between the Tongue Point/ Rocky Point line and the Oregon/Washington state line upstream of McNary Dam.

As of May 18, a total of 78,562 adult spring Chinook have passed Bonneville Dam, compared to the recent 10-year average of 75,286 and the recent five-year average of 89,892.

May 4-10, 2026 Weekly Recap

There was an increase in the total amount of Northern Pikeminnow turned in at all stations for the week: 6,710 NPM/789 anglers. No external tags were turned in.

Highlights of the week: Washougal station had the most fish checked in at 1,323 NPM/90 anglers. The highest average number of fish caught per angler was at Rainier Marina station, where 43 anglers turned in 886 NPM.
