There have been a lot of changes over the 30 years since I first opened my shop, Comics Unlimited, at 654-B Diamond Avenue in May of 1996. I closed the shop in 2014, after nearly 20 years at that location, to sell online and at conventions, and set up at the Diamond Avenue flea market in 2015, remaining there for years.
Aside from a few months in 2018 when I had a spot at Atmosphere Collectibles' 1st location on Main Street. I returned to Diamond Flea Market for a couple more years after that, but left when Covid was at its worst. Sadly, the flea market burnt down due to an arsonist.
For a time afterwards, I still set up at local conventions such as Raptor Evansville Raptor Con, Evansville Horror Con, and the Southern Indiana Comic Book Show, which I would continue to do over the years.
When things were looking better as far as the pandemic was concerned, I moved the Comics Unlimited booth into the Cowboy Jim's Vendor Mall on the East Side of Evansville, and then into The Big E Superstore at 1540 Vann Avenue, before finally settling at The Big "E" 2 flea market next door to the Big E in the same building.
Through it all, I was blessed to have made many loyal customers/friends and many wonderful fellow vendors, all of whom mean the world to me and whom I appreciate more than I can properly express. I will miss seeing everyone regularly, but know that I am grateful to have met so many awesome people through these years as a result of my business, Comics Unlimited.
I will continue to sell on eBay. This page will remain, not only to promote that endeavor, but in case there's ever a chance I might set up at a show again, though there are no such plans anytime soon.
Please check out all my pals at The Big "E" 2 and The Big E Superstore! They are the best, and I am glad I was able to be a part of the BIG E family these past few years. Also, my buddy Robert's show, the Southern Indiana Comic Book Show, is the best comic book show in the area, and if you've never been there before, make sure you attend in the future and see what makes it so great! And naturally, there's the cool pop-culture show, Evansville Raptor Con and Evansville Horror Con shows that are fun for everyone!
It's going to be different for me to adjust to a new way of life, and I wish that I felt it was possible to continue selling as Comics Unlimited at the flea markets and such, but I had to make some hard decisions and face the reality of the situation as it exists currently. I wish everyone the very best and once again say thank you for being a part of the history of Comics Unlimited in any of its various forms.
Sincerely,
Matt
