Happy New Year, friends, adventurers, and fellow LARPers.
As we step into a new year, we want to take a moment to speak from the heart, not just as vendors, but as members of this incredible community we love so much.
LARPtopia has always been, and still is, a small home-based business built by passion, creativity, and a deep love for LARP and the people who bring these worlds to life. We don’t have corporate backing or massive warehouses, what we do have is our local community, our repeat customers, and the shared magic of the events we gather at throughout the year. That support is what has kept us going.
The past few years have not been easy. Some of you may remember when we lost our trailer and vehicle, a huge setback that is hard to recover from. Now, like many small businesses, we’re facing new challenges: a difficult economy, higher stock costs due to tariffs, and even the loss of retail options on our website because of those same tariffs. These pressures hit small businesses especially hard, and right now, we need community support more than ever.
When you choose to shop local, when you stop by our booth at a LARP event, convention, faire, or even a home shopping date, you’re doing more than making a purchase. You’re helping ensure that we can keep showing up, keep serving the local LARP community, and keep supplying the gear and goods that help bring your characters to life.
If you want to support us between events, we do offer fun print-on-demand T-shirts online, every order helps keep the lights on and the dream alive. We are also working hard to find a solution for US shipped LARP mystery boxes and other items but this will take time.
Our long-term goal has always been the same: one day, to open a brick-and-mortar retail shop, hire local folks, and continue traveling to events across the Great Lakes area. We want to grow with this community, not away from it. But the truth is, without continued support, that future becomes harder to reach.
So as this new year begins, we humbly ask: if you LARP, if you love this community, and if you want small local vendors like us to keep being part of it, please consider shopping with us when you see us. Your support truly makes the difference.
We also want to give a heartfelt thank-you to LARPBOX and Calimacil, who have supported us every step of the way. We wouldn’t be here without partners like you. And a thank you to all the LARP groups who have volunteered time and never forgot us. A special thank you to KANAR, Enlightened Fantasy, and Dystopia Rising Michigan.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of our journey. We hope to keep adventuring with you for many years to come.
Happy New Year, and may your quests be epic.
