School board votes not only to ban the composition from being played on school grounds, but prohibits the students from using school-owned instruments to play the composition anywhere else. Watertown Wind Symphony then raises $50K to buy their own instruments to play the piece at Minocqua Brewing Company.

Banning art is not the hill to die on.

Not long ago, our student Lily switched from piano lessons to voice lessons with the goal of getting cast in a school musical. With the help of our wonderful CIML teacher Shala, Lily practiced and sharpened her singing skills. Just last week, Lily fulfilled her goal as she has been chosen for The Baker’s Wife in Northwest High School’s production of Into The Woods! The musical will run the weekend of April 24th & 25th. Congratulations to Lily; we are all so proud of you!
